i wish we still had the eye for an eye law. this is clearly a premeditated act. i think the suspect should get to be alone with the vic for bout 30 minutes. im sure a member of the family wouldnt mind giving a blood transfusion to suspect if needed!!!

The "cute" and "funny" comments need to be put aside. You need to realize that this is NO JOKE! Mark has lost his leg... what's funny about that? And, what did he do to deserve it? He was doing what was right, protecting this girl from the jerk that TRIED TO KILL HIM. What I can't believe is that they have only charged him with hit and run, not ATTEMPTED MURDER - why? It's obvious that it is not just a hit and run, not just assault with a deadly weapon. It is attempted murder and the guy should go away for a long, long time!

that's what I was saying before so I agree! This was attempted manslaughter 1st degree times two! Jacob should be locked away, this was premeditated and this was a deliberate act against the nicest guy. "Hanadora" .... We are thinking of you ;)

Jake Gibbons has had issues for a long while. Please review his past arrest reports. The judge needs to do what needs to be done; consequences that don't include "happy hour" for this young man. Maybe he will wake up someday before his life is totally ruined. My thoughts are with the victims of his acts. Parents of Gibbons need to step aside and let thier son answer to the court system; no making it :right" or "easier" for him. It is time to pay for his crimes and spend nights at the big house for a long time.

First off, to Questions: Isn't there a light socket somewhere that you could be sticking your tongue to right now?

Secondly, though Mark got the worst of it, he wasn't the only victim, and one of those came off injured as well - and all those in his sights ran the risk of an even worse fate.

Finally, as I understand it he was escorted out to his car by the bar staff. If this is true then yes they ARE liable, and negligent as well. It might as well been the case where they had handed Gibbons a loaded gun and bullets.

They may be some of the greatest people in the world, but that was a mistake which may have cost lives, and certainly altered them, and that cannot go without consequences.

he wasn't escorted by a bar employee. he was told (several times i believe) to leave by the bar staff. he was escorted out by someone he knew and then chose not to leave.
the other seriously injured person knows all she has to do is let one of her friends know she needs something and we'll take care of it.

This is a quick search of court records on Jacob Matthew Gibbons (DOB 10/4/82):
2/7/2001: Tulsa County - Preparation of Obscene Videos with Intent to Distribute (Dismissed - probably means he got off on a technicality of the law)
9/2/2003: Cherokee County - Sexual Battery (Sentence - 1 year suspended)
3/4/04: Tulsa County - DUI (Conviction - 1 year county jail)
4/7/04: Tulsa County - DUI (Conviction - 1 year suspended)
9/8/04: Tulsa County - Assault with a Deadly Weapon
1/6/05: Tulsa County - Breaking & Entering (Conviction - 1 year suspended)

Now Jacob Matthew Gibbons has attempted to murder 4 people. I ask all of you, should our court system be held responsible for continuing to let an obviously violent deviant back out on the street? How the guy was even out of jail, much less held a license, is beyond me. If I was this family, I'd sue the county!

Sounds to me like a dude that can't hold his liquor. He gets drunk, then gets all crybaby and violent because he's a girly man that can't take rejection.

Everyone should know who I am. I was the closest one to the whole thing when it happened who was not hit.
1) lets stop this right now, the bar has no liability, and anyone who thinks so is a idiot. he was removed from the bar for threatening a bar employee. he was told to leave the bar and the police were called. you want to sue some one, sue the police dispatch for putting the call in as a low priority call. or the police for finishing their donut before they came out to what was most likely their 6th bar fight of the night. he was put in his car by his friend, the karoke DJ, not a bartender, and anyone who says so is a idiot, a liar, or just trying to get some sick glory out of this. the one bartender that was outside was their not to put him in his car, but to point out they guy they wanted arrested to the police. he was there to make sure he did not go back into the bar and try to hurt someone(specifically one of the 3 women who had told him to kiss off). i know this because he was standing next to me, 15ft from where the KJ(not a bar employee) was putting his buddy in the car. no other witness was closer to both where he got in the car or what later transpired then me. and yes i saw everything, and so help me god i will never forget it.
So lets put blame where blame is due. not on the bartenders, who, as far as i know ,one of whom is now seriously traumatized, or the bar, who kicked the guy out when he had the potential to get violent(not after he assaulted someone), but on a rich south tulsa punk who's parents can apparently afford high priced attorneys to get him out of jail.

2) this was over a rich south tulsa brat not getting his way and getting a girl to go home with him. so he tried to kill 4 people. this kind of trash should be removed from the gene pool. by his criminal record this is not the kind of guy who takes NO for a answer from girls. I really hope he packed his KY, since i have a feeling that a rumor may get started that hes really a cho-mo

3)lets drop this and concentrate on the innocent bystanders who got injured. the guy who came out just to make sure one of his friends did not get hurt. the guy who followed me out to make sure i did not get in a fight, and got hurt, and everyone else who happened to be in the path of destruction.

I disagree, Scooby; anyone working in a bar, serving alcohol to others is guilty to some degree! You are helping someone hurt themselves and others.

We don't need bars, they ruin our society. They make no positive contribution to society. People will never get it...

What, you don't think people don't know what they are doing when they walk into a bar knowing they have a problem? You think they should have a luandry list of people and their photos and say "hey you can't come in because you're a drunk"? It's not our job to make sure drunks and idiots stay out of bars and casinos when they know they have a problem. You can't help someone that cannot help themselves. A bartender's job is to serve drinks and to cut people off when he thinks they've had enough. I know of a case where a girl left a bar totally blazed and killed herself and a couple other folks, and the bartender ended up getting jailed and fined for it.

I can think of a lot worse things that can ruin a society than a bar.....get over yourself and preach your self riteousness somewhere else.

Here's an idea, if you don't like what people are blogging about, don't come to this site. That's what this site is about - opinions. Everyone has a right to their own, even you. But, don't tell others what to say/not say.

This person that did this to my friend was trying to get with any female there, when he was rejected by all of them, he drank more. he was sexually harrassing the girls, trying to pick fights with the guys, making racist remarks about political leaders. this is the same guy who had graduated Union High School in 2000 or 2001 and made a prono while in high school, when caught he tried to sue the high school cause he lost his athletic scholardships. he has a lot of mental issues that should not be ignored. he knew what he was doing. the cops were called prior to him getting to his car. he is not right in the head when it comes to treating other with respect. he needs to he charged not only with the 4th diu, 4-8 accounts of attmepted manslaughter/murder, he also needs to be charged with sexual harrasment. i just hope he has car insurance to help cover the cost of all the people that got hurt and the cars that got damage. i hope he gets locked up and never released.

Then do you agree that anyone working for the liquor indusrty or even for that matter the tobaco compainies or hell better yet the automotive industry. because a car was used. People are always going to find a way to damage there bodies in some way or another. There is no way to stop human stupidity. Ohh by the way I work for one of the above mentioned industries. And i take it very personally when the industry as a whole is blamed for the stupidity of few. Do you want to shut down the beef markets because too much red meat will kill you. Small minded people should not try to impose there will on the world!!!!!
