Wake up idiots! M & E will be moved to DFW within 2 years. Management has taken extreme cuts too! Boeing or GE will buy them out and Tulsa will lose big time. Unions are greedy and so is management - wish I could have an AA union salary -

I agree with road rage. Be thankful you have a job. There are plenty people who wish they did have a job to go to today.

To you the American public before you go judging this union and its membership get all the facts first . The company only tell you there side of the story ! That in there opinon labor is to high , fuel is to high etc etc , They do not tell you some of the bad decission making they have done , the mismanagement among other things ! Look at all the failed airlines that are no longer around and ask yourself why ? It wasnt labor !! though the ceos will use the same line all the time while they fill there pockets ! These employees gave up over eighteen percent of their pay and benefits , while evey year the top executives were given very lavish bonuses with no raises given back to there employees for there hard work and sacrifice . There so called motto We will share in the pain as well as the gain as well as pull together win together was nothing more than just a saying!! The responsibilites that the aircraft maintenance and related work groups have to insure that your aircraft departs and arrives safely you can not put a price on , but yet you want cheap fares . When your car breaks down and needs a mechanic you have no problem paying for those repairs and at least in your car you can pull over and recieve assistance , try doing that at 38,000 feet ! Coroporate america has gotten away with way to much at everone elses expense . You work all your life for a company missing holidays with your family , shifts , and everthing else , and they take it all away retirement , medical and what ever else they can get away with . When is enough enough ! And by the way im tired of hearing you say that im lucky enough to have a job , its because of the corrupt traitors in govt and ceos who have outsourced , and sold this country out , as well as yours and my way of life for bigger bonuses for themselves ! When you all go before GOD that is what counts , all your money wont buy your way to heaven and that escalator will be going down with many of you aboard enjoy your life at other peoples expense , life is short eternity is forever .

They say one bad apple spoils the bunch. Well in AA's case its more then just one. Until the union steps up to the plate and gets rid of the slugs the people that actually do work at AA will get a bad rap. Until you have actually worked all over the maintenance base in Tulsa, you can not make a decision wheter everyone is lazy and deserves more money or not. Good luck to you AA I hope the workers get what they want.

All of us have sacrificed the last 7 yrs. Then the so called company leadership decides they deserve multimillion dollar bonuses when they lose money??? Give me that job!!! After 25 yrs. of keeping the cigar tubes in the air IT'S TIME TO GET PAID WHAT WE DESERVE the ignorant people that say we are overpaid won't bat an eye when they take their cars to an auto shop and pay over $75 an hour for labor. Hey Einstein aircraft can't pull over on a cloud when the crap hits the fan if you can't afford a ticket on a flight go back to Grayhound or better yet ride with the hobo's if they will accept you!!!
If you don't know about all the cost to run a business you really should not use those numbers to make your point. The $75 an hour to cover overhead and profit is to be compared to AA ticket prices to cover overhead and profit. Auto mechanics don't make $75 an hour...and I believe most of us do "bat an eye" at both pricing senarios and feel screwed.

Ok. So what do they do different at Southwest? I'm betting their mechanics do not make what AA pays.

I heard from a reliable source that the biggest reason the contract had been turned down was because American cut their three (3) 2 hour domino breaks to (3)1 hour 50 min breaks per day. Meaning they would have to do 2 1/2 hours worth of work every day. Those GREEDY Execs!!!

This is a right to work state, which means only the officers of the company are allowed to receive the million dollar bonus. Every one else is expected to work for nothing, so they can make enough to vacation year around. Most of the cry babies worked out there for nothing and they expect you to do the same. With all of the companies flooding in it will be no challenge to find replacement for your job.

The economy has changed, we are in the worst depression this country has had since the Great Depression and the Union Members say no to concessions.

Ever since Sept 11 the aircraft industry has been in the tank. The Government has imposed many security laws which have cost the industry & consumer billions.

Yet union members think they shouldn't have to make a dividend for the shareholders.

Sorry to say it but your greed might kill your jobs and the goose that laid the Golden Egg i.e. your JOBS.

Look at what happened to the Tulsa Firefighters and Police after their union members voted NO. Early Retirements and layoffs.

Not saying the union membership isn't right. But the timing and economic conditions for your choice will probably lead to lost jobs.

Union Worker - you are a typical union jerk....you say management didn't give up anything??? are you serious??? my father worked for AA for 40 years as a manager and he gave up not only pay, but vacation time (from 6 weeks to 4 weeks), and holidays. Not to mention all of the "layoffs" that hit management in the past 7 years. How much vacation did you give up? How many layoffs happened within the twu? How much actual pay and NOT OVERTIME did the twu give up? And would you rather give up 1/2 day of sick time or a full day of no work?
VOTE YES!!!!
Take a chill pill... We already voted NO!! That's why we have Unions... So jerks like you cannot manage based on YOUR attitude!!! Everybody is treated the same!!

I'm really angry this was voted down. I don't see how we could possibly do very much better and I am mad that fellow AA'ers have put all of our jobs in jeopardy for what, to sit around and wait another year only to end up voting on a very similar contract? It would have been far better to get this done and move forward.

Fact: they are the highest paid, but they do not do their own heavy maintenance on their aircraft. They only have line mechanics.

Unions are a cancer on our society! My cousin used to work for AA and while he was there he told me stories about how he would be called into the office and told to slow his production down because he was doing too much in one day. I never did understand that. And even though he was quite capable of doing certian things in the shop he couldnt because that job was reserved for certian people. To me that makes no sense.

Yeah, also have Dillon look at the news about the Chinese airliner that just crashed!!! That is the result of their third world maintenance I'll bet. I'll take my chances on American maintained Aircraft.

Here's one for everyone. I walked through a shop a few days ago a little after 5 a.m. and there is a sign over a door that says something to the effect of "WE ARE REVOLVING, WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY, WE ARE PROFESSIONALS, WE ARE THE TWU" or some such nonsense. A few feet away there was one of those 'hard-working-revolving-profes sional-TWU' members sitting at a workbench with his feet propped up on the bench just snoozing away. I grabbed my cell phone and snapped a picture. Yep...you're revolving and professional alright. Great integrity and work ethic. Might want to wipe that drool off your face and wake up so you can go home in an hour when your shift ends. Maybe you should stop making your fancy little signs and use that time to actually WORK. And another thing, if you are inept at putting sentences together, spelling, or using correct grammar, I don't think you should post comments on here. You're only further showing your revolving, professional ignorance. I will say it again, stop whining and be thankful you are employed. Nothing would make me(and most all of management)happier than to see all the whiners walked out of here and all you other great guys and gals still here. I know it is not all of you, and I know plenty who do feel blessed and thankful to have a job. Those are the TWU members I am proud to be associated with.

I think that minimum wage is up over $2/hour now, I might need to check on that one though. Who needs 1500 hrs of sick time? Does a self employed person get paid for a full day of work if they have to stay home from work? You are more fortunate that a lot of people, but here you are whining about what you aren't getting. If it weren't for the unions, a company could decide what to do with their own facility, like run a 24/7 operation, but that would probably cut down on your overtime pay. If you aren't satisfied there, maybe you could take your valuable skills to another company.
Nope! That's why I'm part of a dues paying Union! It's called bargaining.... It's my company... Not management... I've been here at AA longer than any supervisor or manager I work for. Who do they come to when they don't know how to do something or find something in a manual!!!! ME! My dedication and knowledge is worth something and MY Union will do all possible to hold the company responsible for decisions they make!! What everyone seems to forget on this blog... We, the wrench turners, took pay cuts and we did it willingly... We kept our end of the agreement and now it's time for the company to hold up their end! It's simple! Take the bonus pay a few hundred execs get, divi it out to ALL the workers at AA, not just Union members and I'm sure we'd all appreciate it!

You make a very good point, however, the word used was "Evolving" not "Revolving". Unless, of course, he was spinning in his chair, then he would definately have been revolving.

Go on strike! Bunch of whiney babies. Be grateful that you have a job! Sounds just like the Michigan and Ohio unions that helped put Obama in office -- now that he is getting a big vacation in Martha's Vineyard, the economy is supposed to be rosey? Airlines continue to rape customers with extra fees. Take your pay increases and just be grateful -- or strike. We really don't care what you do.
