Someone has been checking out the stories on CNN. Strange to see these old clunkers bring 5 times book value while the VW rabbit is still a bargain & a better car to boot

We've been parking the car with the 6,0 litre V12 for in town driving and taking the older one with the 3,6litre inline 6. That's as far as a step down we're willing to make. It's high but it's not geo death trap high.

I'm not buying into the hype. It will cost you a lot more to keep that old Geo on the road, than it would to keep driving your dependable guzzler.

I'd like something else, but not sure I want to rebuild a Geo just to stop driving my GT.

I used to own a 1991 Geo Metro and I wouldn't own another if you PAID me to take the P.O.S.

Don't get caught dead in a Geo Metro. Literally. That may be the only car that would come out on the bad end of a collision with a motorcycle. And with any other car, forget about it.

I would think about getting a geo. I am having to change my jobs now. I drive 30 miles to my job. My job pays well but not enough to pay for the gasoline. I am changing to a job in my town for paying less money but buying less gas.I calculated to see where I would come out better with more money and it would be better if I worked in my town than to drive in TUlsa.

I've owned a Geo, great gas mileage, easy and inexpensive to work on. The biggest liability was the safety factor, but it would be better than a scooter, and I find myself seriously contemplating one of those!!

The only people who drive Geo Metro's are pedophiles ... the creepy guy that sits outside the playground just "reading a newspaper". No thanks!

I used to have an '89. I loved that car! He was a sweet little ride, all heart--even for a 3-cylinder. I had it for 15 years before it started to develop some major problems. I wish now I'd just hung on to it and paid for repairs instead of buying a newer car. My Cavalier doesn't get near the gas mileage, and, since it was used to begin with, I've ended up having to pay for some pretty big repairs anyway.

I sure wish Suzuki would start making the Metro again!

Can't give up driving the Caddy. I hope your vision into the future on gas prices doesn't come to fruition. There is an amazing amount of crude oil that will be on the market soon and in the coming years. The only thing that could work against us is that we don't have the refining capacity. Just look to Brazil's latest discoveries and also Vietnam. These are recent and it takes a little while to get all the subsea equipment installed and they are building FPSO as quick as they can.

There are some serious trade-offs jumping to a Metro just for a few more miles per gallon. It is notoriously sluggish, tinny, noisy and uncomfortable, even for a shorter person. I used to own one and I never felt safe at speeds over 50 m.p.h.

My dad's metro felt like a snow sled with wheels it was scary on the highway. I have a Ford Aspire that I use for in town trips and it does get very good mileage.

Has this happened to you Megan? Scared of Geo's? You might want to talk to a doctor to get over this.
