Sadly all of you above are looking the other way this whole incident involved a gang! When do we all grow up?
Where you there? According to people from different backgrounds that were there "gangs" had nothing to do with what happened but thank you for your unwanted and unneeded opinion.

I'll keep this simple for you since it seems that your emotional proximity to the deceased has clouded your judgement. Your reactions are simply emotional outbursts; reactions to words... Much like shawn's emotional reaction that ultimately resulted in his demise.

<quoted text> you will someday be in a situation like this
No, no I won't. I have no reason to cowardly enlist my friends to jump someone, for the specific reason that I don't know who is strapped and who is not.

Other than maybe you nobody deserves to be told your brother son father is dead, he was all three
I agree that nobody deserves to be told that. Shawn should have considered that before he decided to fight over some meaningless words.

and he had balls to serve his country, have you?
I have actually served my country and swore to defend it from threats both foreign and DOMESTIC. I fought for my MY COUNTRY, not because someone hurt my feelings. It shames me that someone who wears a uniform of any kind would resort to violence without purpose beyond a bruised ego.

I understand your grief. But it has absolutely no impact on the stated facts that Shawn, the decorated war veteran, and loving father and husband, made the DECISION to jump someone and that someone wasn't going to allow it. This is the REAL WORLD, not high school, and if any number of guys threaten me or MY FAMILY with physical harm, I would have no qualms to put a bullet between the eyes of every single one of them. Shawn's cronies are the lucky that it wasn't me or they would have been on the news too.

And with that, Willis, I leave you with your thoughts and the hope that some people can learn that fighting over pride can get you killed.

Isaac, I would have narrowed down your quote to a couple select sentences but, since you apparently can't grasp the concept of punctuation, I am forced to quote your entire disjointed tirade.

As I said before, we live in the real world, not high school. In high school, there is the silly concept of a "fair fight". In the real world fighting might get you shot, like your dead brother-in-law learned. Ask shawn's friends, the ones that were helping shawn jump the victim who used a gun in self-defense, if they are gonna think twice before fighting over words again. If your ego is so weak that you resort to violence, and greater violence ends you I guess its a case of just desserts.

Isaac, what would happen if these "s%#t talkers" DID show up? Would you take a cue from shawn and choose violence, and fight over words? Violence begets violence, and you of all people should have figured that out considering you just lost family to that concept.

Your sister's dead husband is no martyr, no hero. He was some thug who tried to jump the wrong guy with his buddies and got put down. That's all. The End. When you're at that funeral, and you see all the pain and sorrow, think about how this all could have been prevented if shawn realized that a bar is nothing like high school.

and issacd i would also like to add that if these people really new shawn they would know hes not like that he would never ask his buddys to help him he would deal with it himself like a real man would not like some coward with a gun who thinks just because 20 people roll out of the bar to watch the fight that they are all against him and i will also be there at the funeral and as soon as you find out when and where email me please at [email protected]

I knew Shaun - and he was a very nice person -and did serve for his country and was injured very badly and no one deserves that - no matter what Shaun was doing or did - he should not have been shot. He has a lot of people in Iowa that care about him and will miss him greatly - me included. He would do anything for anyone! My thought and prayers go out to his family and friends!

It is sad that a lot of people lost a true friend
I know first hand about the whole situation. I just want everyone to know the real root of this whole situation is because of gang !!. Or as they say a Motorcyle club. I will not post anything else Shawn needs to rest in peace , every one needs to show respect to his Family and
learn something from this incident. I close in writing this I am not mad at anyone who posted any comment I just ask we all respect each other. To the friends of Shawn dont forget him because he will still live on.

This is my final post it is time to move on.
