I'm a Academy Bus Driver and also was 5 years in Bus School Driver.I realy don't know was going on this commutter drivers head when he hit this school bus. As a Academy Driver and the years I been working for academy. Academy is strict when it comes to safety, we get the safety meetings every quater and always remind us keep following distance, keep the speed limits laws. The School bus driver and the aid both women, I feel for them becouse when there out there picking these kids up for school they feel has there parents. I felt like that when I was driving a school bus. Also the academy bus driver I give him gredit of stoping this bus and not hurting no more people. We good drivers but there also bad drivers its not the company name.

You may be a safe driver and you have all my respects. Also, I feel sad for all the people who were involved in this accident a few days ago.
However, as a resident of Old Bridge, I can tell you that some Academy (and NJT) bus drivers as well as school bus drivers leave a lot to be desired in terms of safety. I normally drive my kids to and from school and constantly have to deal with school bus drivers who blow through stop signs or have to slam on my brakes when a school bus cuts me off turning right on a red light in front of me.
Many Academy and NJT bus drivers drive at full speed on the shoulder on route 9 when the rest of the traffic is completely stopped, which is a highly dangerous practice. Many others pull out of their stops onto oncoming traffic, again making a driver slam on their brakes or swerve to avoid hitting the bus. Not to mention being tailgated numerous times by them on the GSP.
Once I was on an Academy bus going into NYC who rear ended the car in front of him on route 9. The driver's behavior was completely unprofessional. He basically ignored a bus full of passengers, not caring if anyone was injured or needed help. Basically everyone had to get off the bus on their own and flag down the next bus to continue their trip into NYC.
You may be a safe driver -- then you are in the minority from what I've seen.

I drove for NYC Transit, Academy and NJ Transit, the old bridge school bus drivers cut me off several times in this same intersection, they cut across the bus lane from the slow lane without even looking. And, youre an idiot for even blaming the Academy driver, you should know better being that these school bus drivers cut us off at every chance they get. Idiot.... They also looked at the video from the two buses and the Academy bus camera shows the school bus overtaking the Academy bus and turning right in front of him.
