The GIs came home to find that a political machine had taken over their Tennessee county. What they did about it astounded the nation.

n 1936 the system descended upon McMinn County in the person of one Paul Cantrell, the Democratic candidate for sheriff. Cantrell, who came from a family of money and influence in nearby Etowah, tied his campaign closely to the popularity of the Roosevelt administration and rode FDR’s coattails to victory over his Republican opponent.
Fraud was suspected—to this day many Athens citizens firmly believe that ballot boxes were swapped—but there was no proof. Over the following months and years, however, those who questioned the election would see their suspicions vindicated. The laws of Tennessee provided an opportunity for the unscrupulous to prosper. The sheriff and his deputies received a fee for every person they booked, incarcerated, and released; the more human transactions, the more money they got. A voucher signed by the sheriff was all that was needed to collect the money from the courthouse. Deputies routinely boarded buses passing through and dragged sleepy-eyed passengers to the jail to pay their $16.50 fine for drunkenness, whether they were guilty or not. Arrests ran as high as 115 per weekend.

JUDGES CONTINUE 'BAD JOKE' RULINGS
Decide kidnapping not bad enough to warrant deportation

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has returned an illegal alien’s case to lower court after determining that kidnapping is not a sufficiently bad crime to require a convict’s deportation.

Officials at Judicial Watch, the government watchdog organization, said it may “seem like a bad joke,” but confirmed the court “spared an illegal immigrant convicted of kidnapping from deportation” because kidnapping is “not necessarily a crime of moral turpitude.”

Judicial Watch said it’s not the first time the 9th Circuit has “been kind to illegal immigrants with criminal records.”

The word is "subconscious." You don't know what you're even saying.
Try thinking for a change instead of letting your hateful senses dictate your reactionary thought processes.
Trust me, it's way over your head.
There was nothing humorous at all about Posey harping on that one comment of mine for days on end. You apparently have a very under-developed sense of humor. Check with your "subconscience." LOL!

OFF TOPIC:

Flu reaches epidemic proportions in US

Published January 11, 2013

FoxNews.com

Influenza has reached epidemic proportions in the United States, with 7.3 percent of deaths last week caused by pneumonia and the flu, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday.

That is above the epidemic threshold of 7.2 percent, CDC said. Nine of the 10 regions of the United States had "elevated" flu activity, confirming that seasonal flu has spread across the country and reached high levels several weeks before the usual time of late January or February.

In addition, two more children have died this past week from flu-associated illnesses, bringing this season’s total to 20, the CDC said.
