It is a fundamental principle in international law, accepted by all nations since the end of WW2, that it is for the inhabitants of a territory alone to determine how they are goverened.
The referendum was only disputed by Argentina.

Straa wants to be more British than any other Brit; I just find that hilarious. He even join attacks against Britain's former enemies, and delect in jingoism.
Funny but frequent.
I have seen pathetic examples in Texas, for example.

Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war and until there are no longer first-class and second-class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes. And until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race, there is war. And until that day, the dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality, will remain but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, but never attained... now everywhere is war.

Avoided that Question??????? Are you stupid. or nuts????
Probably the subject more adressed and answeed in this forum
That was explained to exhaustion by me and many others, some of them were brilliant.
Continuation of the spanish government from 1810. The Viceroy was deposed and replaced by an argentine government in Bs. As. which continued the administration of all the Viceroyalty territories.
Malvinas was administered from BA and there was not a break on that.
That isn't true though, is it? Buenos Aires declared independance. All surrounding territories said no. You then went on a war of conquest, trying to steal land from everyone you met.
Ricardo wrote:
The british, who had never had a claim (no first discovery, no first occupancy, nor settling nor administering) had even left their tiny garrison (the only spot they were auhorized to occupy by the spanish legit rulers) in 1776
So you admit we had a legal settlement in 1776? Almost a century before Argentina even existed and decades before any independant colony in the area?
Ricardo wrote:
Argentina effectively retook the spanish locally located government and settling in 1829, after a formal sovereignity reconfirming proclamation in the Islands in 1820.
An American pirate (jewett) planted a flag in land which already had a plaque on it confirming British sovereignty in 1820. Then in 1829 another pirate tried to settle (vernet).
Ricardo wrote:
Produced many sovereign acts besides settling, like creating the Governorship, granting land licences and exercising fishing control issuing reglamentations and effectively enforcing it.
Strange, according to vernet himself any argentine settlement was utterly destroyed by the US in revenge for him being a pirate and attacking their ships.
Ricardo wrote:
The brits...nobody had seen them since 1776. Property is based EVERYWHERE 100% in effective occupation and posession acts.
SO the falklands are ours, no question. Have been for a very long time.
Ricardo wrote:
No matter this, in 1833 they attacked the argentine settlement in the eastern Islands where they had even never been before (their tiny garrison was in the western island)
We attacked did we? How many casualties were there?
Ricardo wrote:
No traces of any justification for that agressive act of blatant usurpation can be found.
No traces of any EVIDENCE for any act of blatant usurpation can be found.

We RESCUED numerous people who had been part of an argentine military expedition which had mutinied. That's right, the settlement you pretend was attacked wasn't even Argentine. They had clearly cut all ties to argentina. Most of them were being used as unpaid labour by the mutineers, i.e they were argentine slaves.
Ricardo wrote:
This is summarized...I can not repeat the dozens of posts about it to the newcomers, the memory handicapped and the distracted.
It is honestly the first time I ever saw an argentine try and make a real case.

Who do you think you are, you don't know anything about me or Britain, maybe Argentina is a racist country, but Britain is multicutural and not racist, I have only ever been racially abused twice in all my time here, once by a Pakistani and once by a drunk white guy. No one gives me glances you fool, most of my friends here are white and the Indians that I do know were mostly born in Britain and are slightly different than in India, but I am used to them now and them to me, they are never racially abused and are happy here. I have two nations, both great, while you have none, I worked hard to get my citizenship, I earned it and am proud of it, I'm not a nationalist, I just respect Britain a lot because of all that they have achieved, this small island in the north sea that changed the world. I have not forgotten the wrong that Britain did in India, but i have also not forgotten all the good they done either. India was one of the first countries to become industrialised, because of Britain, we speak English and have a parliament and democracy, based on the British ideals. Of all the world powers in human history, only two gave more than they took, the Roman empire and the British empire, Britain took a dark and harsh world, and bought it into the light, into the modern world, so yes, i am proud to be British, and if you were here and thought about it, you would be too. When I go back to India and travel in Europe, my British citizenship gives me the rights and priviliges that go to all brits, I know that no matter what, the British embassy would be there for me if I ever needed it, that is because like the falklanders, British citizens are always looked out for by Britain, that's why the falklanders will never be abandoned

Nobody and nothing in the entire world will make me to believe that initially someone in this planet really been thinking that those Falkland spongers, living well in the Pacific Ocean on the UK taxpayers' donations, will ever vote against their UK belonging!! Nobody in Falklands is that stupid. I think it is worth holding such a referendum on Falklands not among the Islands citizens but among the British taxpayers, that annually pay from their pockets for roads, transport, education, healthcare, police etc in Falklands. Politically motivated area? F#ck Politics! Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland living at Englishmen expenses are totally enough!

If here in England we still do count for our children's clear future, then in 5 years UK should leave the EU, in 10 should get rid of Falkland's burden and finally say BB to Scotland and Wales!

Exactly my point! My opinion all along. It's anti-British they say. It's treason to thing along these lines, I keep hearing.

It's always the recipients of our generosity who are heard, but never the people who actually foot the bill.

Let's have referendum in England about Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Falklands. I guess the outcome would be predictable: "From now on, you are on your own!".
As for the EU, it's just a bottomless pit now.

England needs to shrink, to stop to be a charity shop, and to concentrate on its own interests.
