Mexico has to be one of the most dangerous countries on the planet.

For once I agree with the thing above. I know parts of the country are safer than others, but until there is a major change in society there, it is not a place I would want to go.

And now that I live in southern Arizona, the flood of illegal immigrants over the border here is certainly a concern.

There was a news story here just yesterday about the discovery of a cache of AK-47's hidden alongside a road here.(No, they weren't any of mine).

But if they decide to make an example, or flex some muscle you never know what might happen. The police are not equipped to deal with heavy weapons and surprise attacks. Lets just hope it never happens or the tourist industry of Mexico will go down the toilet. I would not put anything past cartel members.

Here in Chihuahua thy were threatening to kill customers watching movies in the cineplex theatres. I frequently go to that complex as a customer. Just to get them to pay the extortion. They just went after for the first time, a foreign large corporation, and firebombed their facilities. Pepsico, ring a bell? For extortion.

Numerous times on the busiest nights they have hit Applebee's and robbed all the customers at gunpoint. They seem to always get away with it. I wonder why with so many police around. But it is obvious they are in on it too.

They fire bombed a casino in Monterrey and killed 72 helpless civilians. If they are willing to kill their own people why would they fret over Americans.

So I would not put anything past them. I hope it never happens.

And is your new President part of the corruption or a solution?

This really has nothing to do with what you are eluding to. It has to do with safety! People going could care less where it is coming from. They are worried about themselves, family and friends. No matter whose fault it is these things are happening in Mexico.

I will play. Mexico has refused any physical on the ground help from the USA. When they do help to locate someone big, the guy is gone within minutes before taking him down.

Mexico has been very corrupt since its existence. This is the Mexico forum so I thought we were talking about Mexico. Not the USA, not Sweden or any other country.

If is was the USA forum I could also vent my problems there also. But it is not. I am not a fan of the current President if you want to know.

I just thought this out. I am an American citizen so I assumed you meant Obama. I personally do not think the new president here in Mexico is part of the solution. The people say there has never been a president that has not been corrupt.

I cannot vote here as an American citizen.

It's like telling queers to go to Uganda, only Uganda is much safer for queers, or anyone, than Mexico is likely to be anytime soon.
The Tourist Ministry of Mexico is to be applauded to the degree that they can lure rich naive crime victims (liberals) into the snake-pit of violent crime that is the failed State of Mexico, resulting in death by torture with power tools.
Forget Uganda.
Homosexuals should get their kicks in Mexican jails if they can't pay the bribes to stay out.

Only arms merchants and Federal Agents go to Mexico.

you watch far too much TV

Here in Puerto Vallarta we have over 500k people in the bay and have had just a few murders this year
Chicago has more murders in one day than we have here in a year

My young kids have twice the freedom here then they have in San Francisco

Even the borders have a murder rate similar to many big cities in the USA

until the liberals put the lid on the cookie jar the criminal invaders will continue to flow north

The government will give a criminal the choice of prison here or to flee north

It cost money to keep them in jail here and the USA will feed, house, educate and give free medical care to all criminals that invade the USA

It is a joke here among business owners
If you have a employee you want to get rid of you send them north

Please stay on your side of the border.

And you cannot seriously expect me to believe that Mexico is not more dangerous, and doesn't have a higher murder rate, than the U.S. The homicide rate in Mexicon is AT LEAST TRIPLE the homice rate in the U.S. And while the homice rate in chicag is now exceedingly high, the number of homiceds in New York is at a rate that if it continues all year, will be the LOWEST ever recorded in teh city.

there are some very dangerous places here but Mexico City has a lower per capita murder rate than DC

Here in Vallarta we have a murder rate lower per capita than any big US city

In the last 10 years we average less than one American or Canadian killed per year.
There are over 100k year round and another 100k 6 months per year
Plus millions of visitors every year
Last spring break was 2 million

Google murders in Vallarta

And most all of them were involved with drugs
