During Mohamed's time,Meccans were very poor people relying mainly on camel milk and dates for survival.( Oil was not discovered at that time by the white man.)So Mohamed commanded all Muslims to come to Mecca and Madia once a year, and perform Hajj. This gave Meccans some livelyhood. Moreover, hajj pilgrimage was there even before Islam. Pagan Arabs used to celebrate Hajj pilgrimage, which Mohamed copied.

Why do Hajj? So kafirs like me can enjoy watching Crowd Surfing, Crowd Crushing and muslims getting trampled on T.V. What a show, can be better than a hockey game. Hopefully all these pilgrims get drunk on zam zam water, I hear it's got a high arsenic content.
