Of course the French should build and sell ships to Russia; it's good for the French economy which is in trouble at the moment.
If the French don't deliver or cancel the sale, I wouldn't be surprised if one of its critics steps in and snatch the deal!

France has superior technology... It sells its warships to many countries including Greece and Russia and others.... The most lethal technology is kept in France though...

That's because it's not French but American !! Nothing to do with France.

The US have an embargo on military technology which the French aren't allowed to export.

The very idea to buy those ships was a silly one.
Those mistrals don`t work in cold weather.
Where would Russia use them?
The only place I see for them is Russian navy base in Syria or Vietnam, if Russia still has it.

You are terribly badly informed. The ships are French-designed alright.

But the defense systems and weapons guidance on these Mistral-class ships, those are US technology passed on to France in the NATO framework. The sophisticated technology isn't French.

But those are the object of an embargo, so France cannot equip the helicopter-carriers it sells to Russia with these advance systems.
Russia is developing the equivalent itself.

In short, France sells hulls to Russia; the contract was for 2 ships built in France, and plans sold to Russia to build two more.

I believe the Russia Defence Minister who ordered them has been sacked since.

These ships are equipped with engines that need a special fuel and are incompatible with the rest of the Russian fleet.

French people are asking the right questions. They haven't lost their mind like French government has. What is French government going to do next? Sell weapons to Bashar al Assad.

If the French had the equivalent, they wouldn't need the American technology, would they?

There are US Weapons systems and advance guidance on the Mistral simply because France cannot match them! Period.

They may balk at Ukraine's request to paint the wolfsangel on the conning tower though. Kiev should probably not specify that.

That's what the Russians wanted. They wanted just the ships with no weapons intalled. They need ships that can transport around 500 troops and the French Mistral ships seem to suit their needs.

I know that, you know that, but Alexandre seems to think it's a major breakthrough.

France should be thrown out of NATO. I will never understand how the French think. They put money before honor these days and instead of doing the correct thing, they go against all rational thought and arm the enemy. France used to be different, they used to always "do the right thing" even if it hurt them. France used to be honorable but something happened over the years. It seems money and greed win over these days.

They could easily sell the ships to NATO and not lose anything. I personally think that NATO countries should all chip in, buy the ships and then, donate the ships to Ukraine. Russia stole nearly all of Ukraine's ships when they illegally took Crimea, well, this would be the honorable thing to do.

BUT, France is no longer a country of honor and dignity, they are now a country of greed and stupidity. If they go through with this sale, NATO should blow it out of the water before it gets to Russia.

You are really funny with your "honor against greed", coming from a country that is greedy above all.

The French indeed honor a contract they passed years ago.
If they renege on it, no country will ever order anything from them!

If you like Ukraine so much, why don't you offer it one of the many US Navy ships you have mothballed somewhere?

Ho, and I wish NATO, or HATO, the North Atlantic Terrosist Organisation was disbanded.
Everybody knows it exists only for US interests.
