Scandalous Picasso?

Full story: www.forbes.com

Pablo Picasso was never shy about depicting eroticism in his work. From his earliest drawings to his last paintings, sex in all its pathos, pain, humor and lust is a constant influence.

It is so unfortunate that many of these curators are not even bothering trying to bring these exhibits to the USA. They feel the battle over censorship is such a waste of time. So, in the end, we lose! We do not get to see these wonderful exhibits because I guess us Americans cannot handle nudity, erotic or explicit works of art. How sad that we have not progressed but moved steadily back in time.
It is also quite sad that porn can be sold in stores and street corners, yet we cannot handle a painting depicting a prostitute with a fish. It is all bureaucratic bullcrap.

What a shame so many will miss seeing the exhibit because of close minded people. I'm a big girl. I don't need anyone protecting me from myself.

Even in his works that appear to be mild one often finds hidden sexual items. For instance a guitar that looks innocent, upon close examination is actually a c#ck and balls having an orgasm ! In the ten pieces that I have, something sexual can be found in each one !!

picasso treated his girlfriends like dirt.

one recent biographer even gave up writing a book about him---cause the more he or she learned about picasso's private life, the more the biographer hated picasso.

It doesn't matter if he was a scumbag or not, the point is censorship. There are many people that do not have the same moral compass as others, that does not mean their artistic, musical, or any other talent is irrelevant.

Many great artists had a scandalous side. C.S. Lewis was thought to be a pedophile and took nude pictures of a little girl named Alice who later became his main character in his books.

You would think some of the bigger cities would have enough people interested. They could have an age limit like they do in films.

The thing is with the age limit, no matter if a painting is over explicit to some, it may not be to others. It is all a matter of perspective sometimes. As a previous poster stated, people can sexualise any object or subject if they so choose.
You are right, there are many people in history with sorted perversions that have been creative. I think especially in America these people in high positions, including churches, seem to think they need to censor us, like we cannot make up our own decisions on morality. The sad part is that we allow it to happen, especially in the last few decades.
