US general: al-Qaida may be easing effort in Iraq

BAGHDAD (AP) -- After intense U.S. assaults, al-Qaida may be considering shifting focus to its original home base in Afghanistan, where American casualties are running higher than in Iraq, the top U.S. commander in Iraq said Saturday.

"We do think that there is some assessment ongoing as to the continued viability of al-Qaida's fight in Iraq," Gen. David Petraeus told The Associated Press in an interview at his office at the U.S. Embassy.

He offered a mostly upbeat assessment of conditions in Iraq just weeks before he is to make a recommendation on whether to further reduce U.S. troop levels. Yeah except even the Iraqi's are indorsing Obama's position. Friday Bush was talking about creating aspirational horizons for withdrawing from Iraq. What ever the F*** that is suppose to mean. Of course McCain is staying for 100 years which is probably the reason the Iraqi’s like Obama’s plan so much. Obama says we need more troops in Afghanistan. Suddenly McCain is saying the same thing and Bush is talking about intensifying our efforts there. The only buffoons around here are people like you that can not admit that Bush is a total screw up. How are you going to argue against Obamas plan when even the Iraqi’s are for it. Why doesn’t Bush just do like Nixon did. Just declare a victory and pull out. Then he can walk around telling everybody that he was a victorious war time President a true hero of history, whose brave deeds will echo down the corridors of time.
