They've kept extending her house arrest another year for the past couple of years. She's 63, and she earned the Nobel Peace Prize in '91 for her non-violent struggle to restore democracy in Burma. The junta really needs to release her. They're only hurting themselves by keeping her captive.

I quite agree with you, but she is also hurting Myanmar. She is making herself a tool for some democratic powers to stab the majority of poor Burmese. If this drags-on (which is very likely), most people will long for the day she is gone forever. She should have enough courage to change and evolve - then again, she will lose her backings and couldn't survive politically.Ironic, isn't it?

I'm an American and accustomed to democracy. And it took many generations to build what we have. And certainly I would not have supported an "Activist Revolutionary" which is no more than distructive to peaceful society. Suu Kyi is not much more than a troublemaker.

You would still be under British rule if it wasn't for people who DONT think like you do.

Please sign the petition urgingin UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to secure the release of all 2,100 political prisoners in Burma - including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Khun Tun Oo and Min Ko Naing. The petition will be presented on May 26th.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Taurus

Friends and partners aren't behaving as you would like today. They're eager to go their own way, much to your annoyance. In order to get round this you're going to have to ask yourself some tricky questions, such as whether you're trying to control everyone's behavior or whether they're being inconsiderate in wanting to do their own thing. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so maybe you should all release the tension by making it a super New Year's Eve celebration?
