This increase in the degree of servity of the deplorable helpless condition the people of Myanmar have both perished from and endured in the wake of the Cyclone now compounded with the approaching deluge makes this a humanitarian disaster on athe grandest of scales. With the aquiecence by both state paranoia and chinese spheres of influence these generals have displayed in the blocking of GLobal Aid and workers entry, sending rotten rice to certain area's in a genocidal bid in plan view of the world, and disallowing immediate assistence should add both merit and precedent for them to be indicted for Crimes Against Humanity.

Here one is dealing with the forces of systematic fragmentation. The Azura's. Whatever is left of a world view of humanity, will either rise here to bring what is rightly to be brought, or sadly for financial and other reasons and designs allow those who have a moral, ethical impulse to immediately come to Aid those so distressed, to have that higher humanity twarted.

And what happens if our Humanity becomes 'fragmented"? By the shear magnitude of our inability to bring water and food to our fellow man in this picture? Have they succeded?

I am against the Iraq war but I would not be against a division of Marines going in and taking over while needed supplies are distributed. Of course, if Bush would have anything to say about it we would then try to change Myanmar to a democratic country. So, it would take a month to make sure that everybody received ample supplies to survive and get back to normal(their normality, not ours). Then pull out. We need lead in these emergencies and then pull out when the emergency is over, not stick around and control.

The USA has been on the forefront of just about every major catastrophe in the world for decades. Some very good recent examples are the tsunami and the huge earthquake in Pakistan. These two, and many others, have been during Bush’s presidency. Yet nothing like what you are accusing the USA and Bush of has happened…. The USA has not used natural disasters as an excuse to invade and change the governments…. Not even of despicable regimes like this one in Burma. Why would you even come out and state that this is what the USA would do?
One of the first and foremost points about giving aid in situations like this is that politics are not part of them. Even in countries with rotten leaders, it is the people who count. They are the ones who need the help and should get it.
If the marines were to go in, just for giving aid… it would erupt into a huge war. China is poised to attack any force that tries to help the people of Burma. This is nothing more than genocide… just like the huge famines in Africa that the leaders use as an excuse to get rid of those who oppose them. Natural disasters like droughts, earth quakes, floods, etc are often exploited by those who rule to clean house… why pay the military to kill their own citizens when nature itself is doing such a crackup job.

And the UN is having meetings, wringing their hands, trying to decide if they use the power the world has invested in them… and go in and help the people … The UN has no spine.

Since its creation, the intention is honorable, BUT, the General Assembly has become a pool of despots looking for the external boogeyman (the west in general & the USA !!) as explanation for internal suffering.
Before the U.N. these countries would at the direction of the leaders, invade a neighbor, rape and pillage, return home to a heroes welcome and be paid well.
Now, the United Nations invites the head despot to the General Assembly, blames America and holds out a palm. Hollywood buys into it, and the media has a lead story.
