Malaysia scraps Singapore bullet train

Malaysia has scrapped plans for a multi-billion-dollar high-speed bullet train connecting Kuala Lumpur and Singapore because of high costs, a government official said Wednesday.

An Economic Planning Unit spokeswoman confirmed a report in The Star that the government is no longer considering the project. She declined to be named, citing protocol.

'The government will not go ahead with the project because the financial model submitted involves a significant cost to be borne by the government,' said Sulaiman Mahbob, director general of the Economic Planning Unit, according to The Star. Read more

Bwakakaka
itulah kalau katak hendak jadi lembu..
akhirnya hanya jadi tertawaan dunia.
sadar juga kau sekarang...

MAS a government linked company would lose money if this bullet train went ahead.(Not that MAS is making any money at all... its making a loss and is what Malaysia stands for... Show not REAL Profit.)

Japan and Europe have bullet trains. Malaysia is obviously too poor, furthermore, Malaysians can't even get KL Sentral to combine all forms of rail transport.. Putra line to Monorail requires you to walk through a slum area full of beggers... and don't get me started on the quality of foot path which is falling apart.

Its the worst in asia. Maybe Malaysia should look at how competent they are compared with their singaporean neighbour.

Malaysian parliment chairman Do DO PHo Phat said today that after "Extensive research" it was decided that the money earmarked for the expensive train sets would be better spent on "Rice" and "flour" to feed the estimated 5 million starving Maylaise people, and that once they were "healthy enough" they could be forced to "Build the rail lines as slaves"

LMAO....ya i agree with,we can hardly find anyone who is starving Malaysia,in fact poverty has been totally eradicated fifteen years ago, what we have in malaysia is "relative" poverty rather than "absolute" poverty....

Not only MAS but KTM, Bus operators, SIA etc will loss their business. But why need bullet train? Johore Baharu to KL only takes you 4 hours by Bus. Bullet train is not justifiable as it will kill other sectors.

The distance between one airport to another is relatively short and furthermore, road conditions in Malaysia are known among the best in the world. Good decision gomen...

Its not stereotypical. Why dont you go back to Malaysia and take a good look at what a mess KL is.

Open your eyes... I can tell you're not chinese because you're overseas... as a result of:

1. Malaysia's poor educational system.
2. NEP.

Get with it.. the world doesn't have time to rebadge Mitusbishi's and call them proton's ... step back and be proud of "that" achievement...

Ill informed... no need to be informed. I was in KL 2 weeks ago. The moment you step out of the airport you are harassed by some taxi driver wanting to cheat you. The taxi sped and was pulled over by a police officer.. he stepped outside... I know what they were doing... you think the taxi driver didnt bribe...

KL is a corrupt mess at every level. Mahatir wants to boycott dutch brands.. GOOD.. I hope ING (dutch group) does not sponsour the F1 Grand Prix in SEPANG...

Bunch of idiots... I am so ashamed to be Malaysian.
