What are the benefits involved? How about the Chinese already here? What are the hurdles affecting Hawaii towards attraction of/to the Chinese? I have been attracted here to Hawaii since 1952. Do I count?

One of the Greatest obstacles to attracting more Chinese to Hawaii would be an even greater amount of Military Troops being brought here. How would this work out? Would the Chinese have to open up more laundries and Dry Cleaners or restaurants to balance things out? Would bringing more Chinese and Military here lump the locals & working classes together with the microneseans into Kakaako Park?

I heard they have the biggest "Chinatown" in the world! Mo' beeg than the one on Kekaulike and Maunakea. We should be going there to check it out. |

In order to attract more Chinese here we will definitely need more open markets. Kakaako would be a very good place to sell ducks, chickens alongside the best quality Chinese fish. We will need another Ranch 99 Market but one with superior quality than the last one.
Is this the hopes of the people of Hawaii to be in need of more Chinese? or is this a ruse for UARC to do biological survey on east asians? |

We will once and for all be RID of Pidgin!!!!!!

To attract Chinese here we may have to upgrade our quality of Pork on the hooves. Waianae used to have farms of that sort. Should we return to Pork Raising in order to attract the Chinese?

hehehe...i visited china in 2004...now i know why so many chinese choose to leave china 100 years ago to live in the US...they live in a harsh enviroment where u have to be pushy to survive, its a dog eats dog world...many smoke and spit like heck in public...when they come to hawaii they will not take kindly to conform to our lifestyle in waikiki...they will be happy in chinatown....

If we don't watch it, we'll all be speaking Mandarin someday.

‘Warm and fuzzy Panda bears’ is a common misconception. Continental China is still a Chinese Communist nation not a democratic republic. Perhaps ‘profit motives’ have replaced ideology but their quality control still sucks!

Well China owns America now as the Bush deficits have led to their floating loans to keep the war going. Bush has put us in a terrible mess.
Yes, i do think you all will miss we Japanese. Chinese tourists want to gamble and will spend much less. |

Dude, why would you want more chinese here? There are too many to begin with. Rude, cheap, and completely inconsiderate.

The title of this thread should be "Hawaii Faces Hurdles in Attracting More Money." The Chinese are just a part of the big picture.

In China, it's just called "town" just like Chinese food is called "food." |
Do they have "America Town" where they serve hamburgers and fries with shakes and the store keepers always tell you "try some, try some!" you'll like it. "Do you want it for take out?" What would "America Town" be well known for? |
