I think it is a good idea to create such city to invite richer Laotian to move there for a better life to lead the rest of the country to more prosperity. I am concerned that most Laotians won't be able to afford the cost of living in such city that financially backfire the plan.
However, it is a good thing to try rather then not doing anything. |

Is that why the economy is in recession? I kinna wonder where all the money go.
Well, I don't think it's a bad idea but can the US get all this money back in due time? If it's not, it will just create a huge burden for the lao people to carry on their shoulders. Eventhough there's a big white house on the hill, if one cannot afford it, how is it possible for one to live in? I don't know the whole story so I'll find out more info or maybe someone just go ahead and fill me in in this subject. |
||||
We are in recession because dammnnnn hmong stay in welfare.. and Pao Vang support Terrorist hmong thugs in Lao.... |
||||
It will be really nice if our Lan Xan Lao country have welfare. Too bad our government can't even afford to to feed its own people. Not even a month. I have to admit one thing that Hmong work harder more country man than Lao these day. No offend about that. Vang Pao is terrorist to Lao? but I look at the bigger picture than just because my hatred and disagree with or look down on Hmong people. I'm more concern about the Chinese,Vietnamese,Thai those foreigner that we kick them out since 1975. Now they are back. Where is our pride and our freedom we fought so hard for. If you consider yourself a country man than you should think wiser before you show any negative thought further. Hahahaha...to me Hmong is just a small group rebel who want to change the government policy and its way revolution against its own people. How can that threat us. I'm more worry about million Chinese in my backyard than thousand Hmong who want to kill me. |
||||
You know...a year earlier I would be very mad with your negative remark but, I was since understood why you utterred such words. Your hatred toward us doesn't benefit or profit you in anyway. Go ahead run your foul mouth and if your mouth ran dried don't forget to drink some water, I don't want you to choke. I can come up with million ill-words for you but what's the use, you don't deserve my time. |
||||
Let's be real. If they built all these housing but didn't provide any job, how are people going to be able to afford them? You were right, it's a shame that lao people have to face such dilemma. Let's hope that these foreigners come with good intentions and not just to dine on easy meals. Hmongs are no threat to the lao people. If the government just be fair regardless of ethnic groups and share with them the common goal and idea, they are all citizen, will do what they can to protect its existence. |

She even cleaned the son's Piggy Bank dried before she ran away. Her name is Viengsone Thammavong, Beneficiary#A088321549. She's from Ban Sivilay, Laos P.D.R. Please contact your local USCIS Field Offices if you have seen her before she scams another one of us. Rumor was she works in a restaurant for cash illegally Thanks all...

hey laoboyz...you sound a bit harsh and irrational. i don't understand why you are referring to hmong as terrorists. We all could be labeled as terrorists. You are giving in to your stereotypes, past down to you from many generations. You will never help bring about good change if you keep these stereotypes in your head. I am a white American, so you might not like my opinion either. But I had to share it anyway. Just spent 4 years living in Laos...and I have seen that Lao have a long deep-seeded stereotype/hatred towards Hmong. But it's too bad. Because my GOD created both Hmong and Lao...and loves them both. Stereotypes only hurt us...they do NOT help any of us towards a better world.
|

. Hmong are not terrorists but former Hmong military leaders are greedy and corrupted. They caused trouble to create shame, stigma, and inflame Hmong's reputation. The Hmong people in the U.S. have to condamn these old leaders' act. Otherwise, all Hmong will be labelled as hypocrite. Hmong are good people like others. Only these bad apples think that they are above the laws. I am with you that very few bad apples cause this bad rep for Hmong. All in all, Hmong are not stupid but hard working people. Many Hmong no longer have faith in these corrupted and evil former leaders. They are gone for good. The laws in this country are going after them. The new Hmong leaders are rising up to shine the Hmong name and future. Please thank President Bush for not being wishy-washy but firm on the law, the value, and principles of the American system. Bad guys not to be punished. Hard working Hmong are rewarded with bright future. These fake leaders have cheated and victimized many uneducated Hmong Americans for years. Enough is enough. Uncle Sam will not let them off the hook. Hell to them but victory and propsperity to the hard working and inocent Hmong Americans. |

Thank for your wisdom and kind work. I agree that Hmong, Lao, Vietnamese, and Cambodians are good people like evry other nationalist or ethnic people. The trouble is that many of these former leaders have been dictators for years and the past culture did not have any leverage to condamn, sanction, and get rid of these autoritarians. That was why Vietnam was colonized by Chinese empirilist system for 1000 years, Laos was conquerred and divided by both Thailand and Vietnam for many centuries, and Cambodia was exploited by neighboring countries. More than 4 millions Cambodians have become Vietnamese citizens for many years.
The Asian people have to change this culture and identify a new one. If the Europeans could do it, why couldn't we? Obama was an ordinary citizen but could rise up to a national power level. Let's get rid of our dysfunstional culture, ideology, and belief system. Politics is a civil right, a fundamental right, and a human right of every Southeast Asian. The kingdom systems have been eliminated or mitigated to the point of token power or symbolic power. Now, it is the time to move up to the next phase, to have multi-partisan factions, and laissez-faire political system with peace and sound proposal. Otherwise, Asia will suffer like China, overpopulation, with meager natural resources, and many underclass and underdevelopped sectional/rewgional areas. Let's allow Asian countries to be diverse like the U.S.. I don't undertand why China did not allow many Europeans or westerners to immigrate there and become Chinese citizens. It is the time to have white people becoming Chinese citizens and politicians. The U.S. can do and why the Asians can't do. I am sick to always remain or come behind the Europeans. I'm not pro VP or anything but what you said is what started the whole thing. One has to understand why a person politically did what he did before casting judgement. The law system in this country is based on proving innocent or guilty of the people. To paint a person right away for his conduct will only bring confusion and that will raise alot of questions among everybody. I encourage everyone to look at the situation and put yourself in to see what you will do in that tight spot. Hmongs are no threat to anybody but like a rat, if cornered, it would bite back simple as that. |

It's right time to do some type of investment in Laos. When you have something nice, people always want to see. Think about many thousands of tourists that a city of Louang Phrabang can attract. Lao people will have more jobs available which will improve their standard of living.
In the world of investment it always invloves with risk but this risk of investment of $2B is a good one. |
||||
Hi All, There are good and bad people in every nationality and i think he just have had bad experiences with those people. |
||||
I'm not against any business or any help that will go toward the people of Laos. Unless the Lao commie government changes its attitude and the harsh policy against any investor especially Hmong USA and these third world countries, people will be reluctant to take the business step to invest. Lao government has the viet commie brain to controll their every aspect of movement and survival, and will be very hard to change. Whatever Hmong will do, they think that Hmong will overthrow the government and put it into chaos, so, the light of day is very dim for Hmong investors from the USA. Maybe 10,20,30 years from now after the older generation is gone, things will be different but until then... let's wait and see. As we speak, there are some small businesses booming and sprout through out Laos and even the poor people are getting rich because they have relatives oversea who pour in money to help invest for their families but as the same time, it's always the same story with Hmong. |

Has anyone considered what an impact a 30 square kilometer city is going to have on my status as a World Heritage town? Don't you know that Diamond City is going to built precisely adjacent to the bank of the Mekong opposite my beautiful and historic precinct? What possible sense is there in building a city of this size when it is going to dwarf my very existence and also create more traffic and massive pollution. And obviously it is not designed to benefit my inhabitants. None of my people are particularly interested in playing golf or staying in luxury hotels and manipulating the stock market. It it clearly designed to benefit the Korean investors and the Lao government which is encouraging this senseless over-development of an otherwise pristine environment. All I see is an invasion by a horde of fat American tourists finally being able to feel safe in Laos because Diamond City will precisely resemble their own dead soulless environments. And don't forget these old fat American tourists are probably the very ones who supported the war or even took part in the the dropping of unexploded bombs on my people the same bombs which continue to kill and maim hundreds of them every year. I am Luang Prabang and I will surely slowly die as Diamond City grows bigger every year on my horizon. |

i am an american...but i can't say that i sympathize with luangprabang because not all americans want the "safe soulless environments..." I lived in LP for a year...and loved that it wasn't America. And so I feel offended by "luangprabang's" stereotype of ALL americans...I like LP for what it is. I don't wish to see a fake town get built up next to it. It saddens me to think of how it will change Laos. Please don't assume all Americans want this...and though there might be a lot of fat Americans, we aren't all fat. Thanks.

I am sorry that I gratuitously insulted you 'lopet'- that was not very Buddhist of me to characterize all Americans so. And I see you know how threatened I feel and I am also happy that you lived so long amongst my people and understood me so well and agree that Diamond City - should it come about - will at the very least rob me of my very soul. Will anybody else stand up to protect me I wonder?

. Let's build our beautiful country to make Laotian name popular. Forget the past because one can't take it. The country, the land, still remains, only many thousands or millions (Essan) have been gone to other countries and that was a big lessons for those old cronies, power mongers, and power haters, who failed to govern properly and share power. The new generation is going to build Laos with open arms and open mind and the real chance is coming to make our beloved nation and land stronger and prosperous. Gobachev is gone, pretty soon, the new blood will prevail and that is the fact. It is just a matter of time. I can see light at the end of the tunnel. Slovadan Milosevich, Castro, Ho Chiminh, Thanom Kitikachone, Kaysone, Pinochet, Polpot, Musha, Hussein, Khomeni, Newin, Suharto, and and Mobutu have gone for good. The time to rebuild the nation with pluralism is nearing. Laos is poor but her natural resource is abandant and only 5 million people compared to 70 million Vietnamese in a tiny land Vietnam. Laotian will move up for sure. |

Yes, I see everyday that my people are beautiful and happy and full of hope in spite of everything. I agree with you that the wheel is turning and the old will surely give way to the new (but I am just not so sure about the wisdom of building Diamond City right next to me -that's all) |
