Indonesian Masseuses Lock Their Pants

Massage parlors in an Indonesian town are asking their female masseuses to padlock their skirts and pants to make it clear that sex is not on offer.

But the move has been protested by the women's affairs minister of Indonesia, where massage parlors are often a front for prostitution.

'It is not the right way to prevent promiscuity,' Meutia Swasono was quoted as saying in Thursday's Jakarta Post. 'It insults women ... as if they are the ones in the wrong.'

At least one parlor in the tourist town of Batu on Java island has required its masseuses to padlock their skirts or trousers to make it clear that the establishment does not tolerate prostitution. Read more

isn't it interesting how the onus is on the woman to take action and not on the men? I'm a man and the burden should be on men not to solicit sex or at least, both women and men should be punished if a crime is committed. But then again, backward countries have always considered women to be less equal than men.

Why is prostitution even a crime? Only the religious consider it a crime and they lobby politicians to make it a crime and it is the politicians who get caught committing the crime.
As long as prostitution is only between adults and it is consensual, government has no business interfering.
Yes, it could be limited to certain areas of a town or city and a requirement that STD testing be a requirement but unless government can really prove it attracts unhealthy elements let it remain.
If there is a demand then it will survive and if not it will not survive.
We allow gambling, Sales of Alcoholic beverages at stores with many in poor neighborhoods. We allow politicians to be elected even though they are the biggest lairs and we allow fast food to be consumed which makes most people obese.
Now you tell me which is the most dangerous. Prostitution just allows men and some women to enjoy a moment with a women or man. The gambling is rigged to take most of the gamblers money. Alcohol abuse destroys the body and contributes to family violence, crime and auto accidents among other problems. Politicians really don't care about your problems. they want to get free health care for themselves along with a pension and plenty of contributions from corporations and lobbyists.
They have even refused to consider the effects of the Minimum tax. One sixteen ounce of soda will gain you ten pounds over a year and two sixteen ounces will gain you 40 pounds.(This is documented) Then add all the other fast food from places like McDonalds and in schools that are contributing to a culture of FAT OBESE Americans. Now add that with a culture of "couch potatoes" and the weight goes on with few exercising as they should.
Now tell me which is worse without letting any religious opinion enter the comment.
Besides religion has no business influencing government.
