"Mr Rudd is expected to provide Indonesia with more financial assistance to deal with people smuggling on top of the $20 million it already provides."

So this is how it works - KRudd pays Indonesia to do his dirty work for him???$20,000,000 +++ of tax payer's money (per year?) goes to Indonesia to "DEAL WITH" the people smuggling problem!!!

20 MILLION DOLLARS - and then add the never ending cost of the ones who make it to Australia.

I just don't believe this country anymore, it's run by psychotic power-hungry animals and populated by apathetic sheep!!!!!

The moron rudd doesn't understand indon just want your money they don't care about your problem
Just think how these srilankans get a visa and then get a boat ?
The indon officials at the same time helped boat people to get a boat and entry at the same time pretending to have no money to pay for the man power needed to stop boat people
Rudd must stop being dependent on indon to solve national problem, just send them back immediately no camps

which country???

i dont think that Indonesia needs aus financial assistance THAT MUCH...

read these grapics..
http://www.presidensby.info/index.php/indikat...
let me translate these 4 u
anggaran kesehatan = health budget
anggaran pertanian = agriculture budget
cadangan devisa = foreign stock
pengangguran = unlabored
take home pay terendah = lowest take home pay
utang pemerintah = gov payable
anggaran pendidikan = education budget
belanja negara = gov expenses
kemiskinan = poverty
pertumbuhan ekonomi = economy growth
utang ke IMF = IMF loan

don't forget the other sentence in that news
"This is a challenge for Indonesia as it’s a challenge for us."
so, this is both indo n aus problem
that's why indo gov help aus
not 2 be paid
not 2 be given a financial assistance

indo let these sri lankans crossing indo waters 2 aus<-this is indo's problem
aus don't let these people come into the country<-this is urs
so, we(indo & aus) have our own problem w/ sri lankans
that's y we need 2 cooperate
work together 2 solve this problem, ok?

Grow some balls, Kev and don't allow any more boat people into this country. If they are stranded in indonesia, the indonesians will soon get the message not to support them in their quest to come here. Only when it hurts them will they take any real action.

How much will this cost the taxpayer? Rudd is scared of the opinion polls after he opened the door to the smugglers.

He's still polling way ahead of Turnbull, more's the pity! Heard on the Early news this morning that 3 in 4 refugees are on Centre Link benefits, all receive children and other benefits and the statement was made that is has now become a big drain on our finances/economy... who'd a thunk it!

A bit of trivia from May 2008...

Refugee intake raised to 13,500:

The Australian - May 14, 2008

AUSTRALIA will boost its refugee intake, overhaul existing detention facilities and scrap the controversial temporary protection visa for refugees.

Immigration Minister Chris Evans said Australia would increase the size of its humanitarian program to 13,500 in 2008-09. Just under half of those places - 6500 - would be for offshore refugees with a special emphasis on refugees from Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The special humanitarian program would be increased by 750 places to 7750 over 2009-10.

As anticipated, the Government announced it would scrap temporary protection visas, instead issuing permanent visas as of early 2008-09.

The minister announced there would be special one-off allocation of 500 places for Iraqi refugees, as well as $10 million in 2008-09 to the Displaced Persons and Refugee Fund.

A further $42 million over four years would be set aside to enable the permanent resettlement of Iraqis and their families who provided support to Australian troops in Iraq.

Just under $50 million will be spent over four years helping migrants gain language skills and traineeships.

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,...

...and don't forget the $20,000,000 +++ to Indonesia to "help" address the boat people problem who don't make it to the Christmas Island resort.

Indonesia will never ever give financial assistance to any country. She only receives. Only one way street. And of course the whole world knows which pockets it goes.

Yes, you have every right to comment here and every right for your voice to be heard. Don't be brainwashed by your government, research for yourself and keep learning as much as you can about what the truth of everything is, don't just blindly believe anything. You're young, you have a lot of learning to do, so do it right and you will survive quite well.

Australia - it's the only country which really concerns me.

Yes, Indonesia does need Aus financial assistance, it's a real shame it isn't used where it is most needed. Have a word to 'your' government about that.

And yes again - we do need to work together to solve many problems other than the ones the so called refugees create.

Money !! The money that the " asylum seekers " ( they sure are poor asylum seekers to have $50,000.00 on average to spend to flee their countries ) hand over to corrupt boat captains and the corrupt leaders/officials of countries that turn a blind eye to the human traffic smuggling.

From our Malaysia experience both ethich groups have these in common :

1. They always blame other people but themselves
2. The Rich among them will never have the poor
3. Once they are in your country, they will never leave
4. They will attract foreign media with all sort of lies and the famous among them is "ethnic cleansing". Ironically they endure the worst in their country

We have this saying " If you see one of them and a snake, kill their kind and not the snake"
