Thank you for focusing on the best and most beautiful aspects of Guatemala. I first visited in 1989 and have returned many times since. Not all is idyllic in the land of 'eternal spring' -eterna primavera- as the natives call it. In general the largely Mayan population is a most gracious and welcoming people. My prayer is that US citizens who visit will not be seen as 'ugly americans' but will take enough time to learn and show utmost respect for all native Guatemalans.
