Matthew 6:28-29 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

It seems all the news these days is focused on the economy. Yesterday, the United States officially reached its debt limit and unless Congress gets its act together the U.S. will default. Interestingly enough, the debt problem of the U.S. is compounded by the fact, that most countries around the world are facing the same situation. So how ought believers to face these frightening times?

"Consider the Lilies!" was a recommendation the Lord gave for when we become concerned about financial problems. Imagine that, a recommendation from the Son of God Himself to consider...yet do we really think about it? Let's consider just what He was saying to us. It's fairly obvious, lilies don't spend their days in fear, anxiety, or worry about their economic future. They've no concern about money, neither are they fearful about clothing or food. They simply continue radiating the beauty and fragrance of the flowers that they are -- and are so beautiful that even Solomon in his glory couldn't match the loveliness of a lily.

i say, in these scary times, we can really take a lesson from the emulating their peace, trust and quiet radiance. By turning over our fear, anxiety, and worry, pouring it out in prayer to Him, He will, in turn fill us with the peace that passes all understanding. And as we become free of worry and anxiety and filled with His perfect shalom, we will begin to radiate the beauty and fragrance of our Lord, just as the lilies of the field, whose witness to His loving provision is perfect, and clothes them more wonderfully than King Solomon himself!
