Top defections hit Zenawi regime

Full story: www.ethiomedia.com

WASHINGTON - As Ethiopia slips further and further into the quagmire of a failed state, top-notch officials are fleeing the country before the immigration door is slam shut for them and their immediate family members. Within a space of two weeks, the ruling party of Meles Zenawi has lost two officials who could have been described its most trust worthy. Eshetu Alemu (top left photo), director of the state-owned Ethiopian Telecommunications Agency (ETA) has reportedly sought a political asylum in the United States. The online Reporter said the ETA chief travelled to the US early in May to attend a two-week executive management training. He was expected to return home but the media was tipped that he had sought a political asylum in Washington. Earlier last week, AFP reported that the country's state minister for communication affairs has refused to return home from the United States. "Ermias Legesse was issued with an 11-day visa and left for the US in the second week of June, but has not returned," according to AFP. “He didn’t report back, but there is nothing political in that,” said an official who spoke to AFP on condition of anonymity. “He has chosen to stay there. It seems he has dreamt about going to the US,” he added. “Sometimes strange things happen.” Ermias, who is in his thirties, was appointed to the position earlier this year. The US Embassy in Addis Ababa declined to comment on the matter, but a diplomatic source said Ermias “has not been reachable for several days.” [Meanwhile, the Reporter said Ermias had already sent his resignation paper to Meles Zenawi.] Despite deepening political and economic crises brought about by the policies of a reviled regime, observers say Meles Zenawi would tap into the strength of his vicious security forces to hang onto power indefinitely.

actually they are not worthful to the gov , i know both of them personally, the minister was one wereda administrator in akaaki distrct in addis before he assigned by personal relation of the ANDM/EPRDF and the second was staff member in a small telecom agency (with less than 50 personel including guards and cleaners) with no function b/se the telecome sector is a monopoly in the nation but assigned as director after BPR/(bussness proces reengineering) introduce to his office replacing another old man in that small office which has only less 50 personel.
but one thing shows us there is a corruption and weakeness in assigning position in the offices.
but these defects are worthless the reason they may defect is b/se they couldn't sustain thier positiobn andto use the advantage while they are at thier pick.

the problem for sure is not the defection of these men but the problem is how much such kind of ooprtunitic have given a position.
i don't deny the problem , i am not such kind of man but these men by themselves are nothing first degree holder specially the minster is from private school.
the problem is the EPRDF leaders them selves b/se they have not an eye too look at themselves.
i know the minster , ask for his profile he was in akaki wereda but suddenly become a minster of some coorrupted cadres from ANDM/EPRDF.
the second one was from a very small office of TELE agenecy not TElecom Coorperation with very small number of personels assigned after BPR. both have not stayed for a year in thier position but i said good b/se some dirty leader in EPRDF can't even understand why they fought to day.
by the way i am not cadre b/se i don't like the top leaders but i like the party/TPLF too much.
i love the party/TPLF b/se my brother died for before i was born. when i remeber my brother(which i don't know ) i remeber the party.
but some idiots are playing some kind of shitt at the blood of our brothers.
that is we deseparatly are calling for new blood and change.
i hope melese and his gangs go as soon as possible.

abr, welcome to aboard. We are in the same ship but make sure that you are safe before they do any damage on you or your life.
They don't like people who are honest enough to understand the issues at hand and try to pinpoint the problems the country is facing.
The question is....Now, How do you sell the party ideology which many have sacrificed their lives to the better of those who have been fouled wrong or misused for political advantage?
I know it is a very hard question but still the souls of the Tigray and surrounding area farmers are crying out loud that they didn't die for Meles and his gangs to put the country in the same way as the previous regimes. It is time to stand up to say "NO!".
Ethiopia is calling for all of us.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Taurus

This is another day in which you should be monitoring the progress you've made so far with the festivities and deciding what has still to be done. You're operating very efficiently right now but you'll be even more effective if you can plan your time carefully, write lists of what you must buy or make, and be realistic about your capabilities. But don't expect to work miracles.
