Damage control from Rocky Mountaineer has resulted in the company offering a discounted rate for the first time ever. Unfortunately, even at this new price I have a feeling one would still not get their money's worth as all the experienced staff have been Locked Out by the company for nearly a year now. Guest reviews during this period have been mediocre at best. Unless this labour dispute gets settled it seems the days of Rocky's high praises are over.

Just a heads up with regards to Rocky Mountaineer: the company is in a labour dispute with their long-time onboard train attendants. So unfortunately the staff that were responsible for the awards and accolades for excellent service will not be onboard to serve the guests traveling at this time. They have hired replacements but needless to say service supplied by newly hired replacements will not be on par with experienced workers. Something to think about before booking as there are no refunds at any stage of your payment plan.

Although some are providing negative feedback regarding Rocky Mountaineer's new staff (probably those out of work or relatives...charlene???). As a tour guide that was on the train both before and after the labor dispute, I can assure you the service is BETTER with the new crew as the old staff had a sense of entitlement. The new staff have received HIGHER guest service ratings and more awards than any other time in the company's history - perhaps because they know how great the job is?

Sounds like the management are resorting to posting fake bs because their business is hurting.

It's a shame the labour dispute is screwing things up. One of the best vacations I had was a train trip from Toronto to Vancouver, with a roundtrip run on the Rocky Mountaineer's Journey Through the Clouds before making the return train trip to Toronto.

While the entire trip was very enjoyable, the Rocky Mountaineer portion was incredible. We made some good friends on that ride and the staff, service and consumables(food and drink) were every bit as good as any 5 star establishment. Add to that the ever changing 5 star scenery rolling by and it's a vacation I'll never forget.

No matter what though, everyone who can should take the opportunity to take a nice cross country trip by rail. It's a great way to see this beautiful country and a great way to meet new friends.
