But to the ignorant; i.e. liberals, callate and Live From Bolivia, money is created not by the expansion of wealth but by government fiat vis a vis printing presses. The deficit that Obama proposes for just FY 2010 alone is greater than the deficit of ALL previous presidents combined. And he has not been in office even two months. The unborn in America are already poor.

Those who actually researched Obama's past through the media's iron curtin understand that in light of his past associations with terrorists (William Ayers) and communists (Saul Alinsky) that Obama has a natural affiliation with socialists of every stripe and so Latin America with all their socialist governments is ripe for his overtures. Correa, Castro, Kirchner, Chavez, de Silva, Morales... take your pick.

How much will his 'outreach' cost the American taxpayers? Maybe Live From Bolivia can put her head between Obama's legs for a few minutes in order to position herself (wink, nod) to steal some money from American taxpayers through her NGO parasite organization and ostensibly use the money to clean the cages at the Santa Cruz zoo? She is probably wet between the legs just thinking about how much she can rip us off for. She is a camba and that is what cambas do. You know, put in a request for a federal government grant for $100,000 and then put $50,000 in her pocket.

I read in articles I googed that Stiglitz says Bolivia has stopped its inflation, but that her economy has stayed stagnant.
The second phase would be to get the country's economy to develop. Maybe this is where the UN can come in?
If you can, please clarify. I'm not sure I am understanding.
How could the UN possibly help the Bolivian economy in any material fashion? Or the World Bank or the IMF or take your pick? You do know of course that much of the Bolivian economy is essentially a black market economy with untraceable cash payments used to conduct transaction - with or without factura. And a growing percentage of the Bolivian GDP is due to cocaine production encouraged if not overseen by the government.

To digress, in Colombia during the heyday of Escobar, Gacha, Ochoa et al at least the government killed, jailed or deported most of the cartel leaders; while in Bolivia nothing of the sort happened and the cash was secreted outside of the country or laundered through construction projects. Drive around Santa Cruz today and notice all the large buildings going up. Bank interest here would be usurious by U.S. standards. So where does the money come from?

"Lend advice measures emphasis" is your missing phrase,(funny you fell for the apparent & possible rodent version that you had to dismiss!).Just kidding, your lost post translation is quite outstanding, and your googled rethreading really kind. All there is to understand is, help is neither needed, welcome, nor affordable, at present. Like Stiglitz stated, stagnation is the key word here, there, & pretty much everywhere.

Excellent post. Money given to Latin America is money down the drain. What do we get in return? Scorn and derision? We are the biggest fools on the planet.

And you make a good point. If a pathological liar like Live From Bolivia is indeed involved in a Non Govermental Organization (NGO); which may be the case, who funds it? Where does the money go? How much might be 'skimmed' from the true intent and purpose of those who provide the funds? Does she get money from American taxpayers?

Bolivia is corrupt from A-Z and it would be fertile ground for someone like Live From Bolivia to live quite well off money provided by others. What kind of real accounting and audit trails would exist in Bolivia? I am sure that she lives quite well. As her cleaning the cages via a third party story illustrates, Mother Teresa she is not. Just speculating....

I don't see an easy way out of poverty for Bolivia or at least any time soon. Gonzales Sanchez de Lozada with his western education and pro-American views was doing a good job moving the country forward towards progress until he triped and fell on his face.
I heard Evo's impressive speech defending the coca leaf (obviously a good writer was paid to write this for him).
Some people know how to play the game to stay in power.

Meant to say Gonzalo Sancez de Lozada.
Sorry for stating the obvious.
I am growing increasingly frustrated with what I am seeing in the States and in Bolivia.
Marabunta is right about the riff raff.
The ones saying Bolivia should do something to help herself are absolutely right.
I just drove my son somewhere and at a corner, a young begging couple (caucassian but the impact would have been the same with any other race/ethnicity)received two bags from chick fillet and two drinks. The guy fell to his knees thanking the driver.
Never have seen anything like this in Houston.
Wonder what kind of life my children will have to experience.
Hope things get better for everyone and Bolivians need to get more por-active.
A monkey could do better than their present president.

How did George Bush drain 401Ks?
What phony war are you referring to?
I think your writing skills need some improvement. If you can't say what yoy mean then you can't mean what you say. Right?

Splendid decision.

You know, we used to be a merit based society. But now with Obama things have changed.

Best of luck.

You're barkin' up the wrong tree there, perro. I check out your dictionary for the meaning of "liberal".*ROFL* You are just baiting, I know, but I am about as far right (aka, "conservative"...als o check that in your book) as you can get without falling off the edge of the world. I know you are just baiting, and good luck with that...but nobody accuses me of being a lib without a gut-wrenching guffaw heading in their direction.

Now, I'll go ahead and read the rest of your diatribe.

well...THAT was anti-climactic.

It will be interesting to see what our Obamination can do with South American policy now. I hope all y'all aren't expecting any radical changes in that regard. Sure, hands will be shaken, dinners thrown, toasts made, but in the end not much progress will be made toward the large group hug Our Man speaks of yearning for with South America. Other fish to fry and all that. Plus we pissed off Mexico by ignoring the NAFTA agreement (which really should have never been drafted/signed originally anyway), so we'll be busy with those folks for a bit now.

I suspect this administration will just shake hands and keep the money flowing at just enough a trickle to keep things the status quo until they have "time" to get serious.

Or maybe I am wrong and all we really need is a really big group hug.

Don't we all babe, I choose to read even into your blunders, like Goney Sandez de La Enlodada, as we should all refer to from now on. But we can not fantasize about a monetary aid that never happened, much less now, that Bolivia is putting it's assets at the disposal of the decrepit western bank system: Unsuitable in effect, and sad in perspective.

Right Marabunta, we do.
Goni is gone(ey)and yes,
Bolivia "could've,would've,should 've".
... "it is what it is" and there is not much point worrying about what we have no control over. These times call for that old sayin': "charity begins at home".
Too many enlodadas in general. Time to withdraw for a while.
Maybe I'll come back as Cruela de Ville. It was hard being a saint in this place.

By all means – reach out to them. Someone has to show some maturity when everyone is just bone headed about it. However, how cozy is the US supposed to get with a government that all but promotes the production of cocaine??

You seem to regard yourself something of an expert of NAFTA and other trade issues. Why should NAFTA not have been signed?
