The Sad Tale of the Manu'a Islands in American Samoa
Sometimes when reading these Small Community Air Service Development Program proposals, I can really get a sense of sadness or desperation from airports.

It is quite understandable that the Manu'a Islands, especially with the Fitiuta and Ofu airports, really needs this funding.
$169,000 is but a drop in the bucket with other funding assistance(through federal subsidies, grants loans etc..)
True....the current economic picture with our island leaves more questions than answers as to how this can be resolved with little or possibly no impact and without much budgetary constraints. It is quite difficult to project beyond the current situation...especially after the disaster, infrastructural damages to government and private industry facilities... the closing of the canneries and loss of jobs...skyrocketting unemployment....
It would be great to see ASG address this need in the Manu'a islands...respectively with the Fitiuta and Ofu airports. I believe we can ride out this economic crisis and work on getting back on track in due time.
