2 million dollars is a joke. But, if this whole thing is really true then he deserves something. Right now, I can't believe that a captain would do something that stupid. I guess we wait and see.

As a Captain for one of "Jet Stu's" major competitors, I get such a laugh out of this situation. The flying public is just getting more ridiculous every time I go out to fly. Sure wish I had signed up with Fed Ex or UPS. At least the boxes don't whine about their seats, lack-o-seats, toilets, bad meals, crusty flight attendants or Captains that lock themselves behind bullet-proof doors.
"Let them eat Cake" as one famous French bitch once said ... yes, you could eat it while sitting in the blue room!! |

This whining twit is complaining about a free flight and playing litigation lotto.
They should have flushed this t*rd |

|
"Even so if he was on a buddy pass sorry but he has no rights as he is not a fare paying passenger"
Not true. At all! And he wil lsoon have the verdict to prove it. Why do you think jump seats are there? Yes, they are for attendants. Not safe, but there you are. Those who say you doubt this story...would you if you didn't know the passenger's ethnicity?? Racists, I think! |

"It honks me off that people can't take an hour long flight without making trips to the restroom. Was on an hour long flight the other day"
You are not a doctor, are you? Overactive bladder is one good reason to go. Try some charity in your life! |

What kind of an idiot complains about a free flight? Throw the case out! What a slacker.

hahahahha, this is kind of funny, a free airline ticket just become a possible 2million dollar lotto ticket, hahahahha, although I can see how it would suck to have to sit on a toilet seat for such a long flight, they should have not taken him on the first place if the flight was overbooked......pay him, but not freaking 2million dollars, that is absurd..

|
He should have taken advantage of the toilet seat and " s..t fast electrically timed."

Having flown Jet Blue 1 time (my last), this guy was in the same boat as any other passenger on their airline.
|
And I will be the first to leave a big, stinking pile in the aisle...with a dollar bill stuck in it. |
|
|
WOW... IF this is truly what happened I hope he wins a boat load of money... Doesn't matter how he got the tix, the flight attendant should have not boarded the flight if she can't handle 5 hours in an uncomfortable jump seat (don't blame her but she should know her limitations)

But he didn't have to try and wait in line to go to the toilet, only to get ordered back to a seat because queuing in front of the restroom is prohibited.

I really can't believe that anybody would be made to sit in the bathroom. Is this guy schizo?

I agree with the pilot, he should be glad he had a seat. He wants 2 million for that?!! Sounds like a scam.

I'm assuming this person was travelling as a non-rev on a standby basis (as others have indicated). As such, unless he has crew training he is required by FAA regulations to be belted-in during take off, landing and any time the "fasten seat belt" sign is illuminated. As a non-rev passenger he could have been asked to stand in the galley during the balance of the flight (or in the lav if he wished to sit) but must have been offered restrained seating during the three aforementioned times. I have traveled non-rev on european and asian carriers and have been told before take-off no seats were available but I could jumpseat (although I have no training), stand in the galley or sit in the lav. I never felt humiliated or degraded, I was happy to get where I needed to go. As a non-rev traveler you have very few "rights" except those afforded in the US as safety issues and mandated by the FAA.

Give him a free first class ticket and be done with it. Two million dollars? We end up paying with higher fares if he gets the money. Ridiculous!!!!

Those of you who think this guy has no grounds to sue since he had a free seat anyway are off your rocker. Would it have been okay if they just strapped him to the wing? Put him in the cargo hold? Stuffed him in the overhead compartment? No. When the airline agreed to let him board and fly with his ticket--no matter what he did or didn't pay for it--they took on the responsibility of providing appropriate service and safety to him. They had every right not to board him at all as the type of pass he had did not guarantee him a seat (not that even paying full fare for a ticket guarantees you a seat anymore). But once they allowed him to board and were in the air, they could not thereafter force him to give up his seat completely.
This is not rocket science. It's pretty basic. Of course we don't know if any of this actually happened. The report is just giving us the details from the legal filing and JetBlue didn't comment. Whoever derided the media for this is also being ridiculous. They asked JetBlue for a comment and got none. They have no way of tracking down any of the other passengers on the plane. How would they have access to that information? They reported the story clearly as being the allegations in the man's lawsuit, not as anything that has been proven. That's appropriate journalism and it is done all the time, in civil and criminal cases. |

The passenger should be grateful for the free ride. I have been given a employee pass as my son worked for the airline. I would accept anything just so I got there and back. However the airline should have let him use the jump seat. Both are guilty of this complaint. Give people something and they want more.

You got to be kidding me. 2 Million for sitting on the airline kimode for 2+ hours? Where do I sign up!
|

I find this a bit far fetched but people find loop holes to everything and this could be an example. I dont agree 2Mil is the answer but jetblue is at fault too for trying to fill up planes beyond capacity. We see it all the time passengers break FAA rules they get cuffs slapped on, fines and anything else. I hope if this guy is right that something changes to cover these stupid loopholes just to make airlines win couple of extra bucks.
