Last November we spent the best holidays of our life and in this way we want to share our experiences with you. We were on a 14 day holiday in Egypt, El Gouna. Actually, we hadn't planned doing anything special during our days, just laying on the beach and relaxing. But then we found an offer of a company called Red Sea Reisen (a local Egyptian comp. based in Hurghada)They were offering a package with 3 excursions for the price of 2, actually a very good deal! We didn't think for a long time :D Anyway, 14 weeks is a long time for doing nothing, so we decided to go to Petra first. It seemed to be a fascinating trip, we've never been to Jordan before, and the pictures of the stone city caught our attention. Wow! Petra is so fascinating and mysterious! Walking the streets and admiring the forgotten culture and civilization of Nabatean people. One can only imagine how they used to live their daily lives. Our second trip was to Cairo. People were telling us not to go because it's dangerous, but we didn't see anything unusual. It's rather calm there. Cairo is a busy city! Omg, the traffic! I admire people living there, I couldn't stand it honestly :) We visited the Pyramids (of course), made hundreds of pictures kissing the Spinx :D, went to the Egyptian museum, where we paid a bit extra to see the Royal mummies face to face :p And in the end we had some spare time so we decided to try a felucca ride on the Nile.. exciting! We came home totally exhausted! And our last trip was a Super safari in the Hurghada desert, with the visit of a Bedouin village, riding a camel, baking the bread with the Bedouin women :) They showed us how they gain water, how they live together with the animals, make food and other interesting things. I bought some hand-made souvenirs from them as well. In the end, we were very happy with our choices of trips. We have some unforgettable experiences, which no one can take from us! And we can only recommend you to visit Egypt and to get to know their culture more.

Cairo, Egypt

Hi Melanie,

I'm glad you mention Cairo as I was there as well last month, and with the same company :D I found them through my friends who'd booked several trips with them last year and they were quite happy with their service and prices, too. Unfortunately, I've found out that the prices for the excursions at our tour leader went higher that last year, because of the oil crisis... luckily the prices at this company stayed the same! Nevertheless, we've booked 1 day Cairo per flight, which saved us a lot of time traveling by bus, and a short trip with a semi-submarine. This is a great option for those who don't want to spend all day at the sea (my boyfriend is seasick) but they wish to see some corals, fish... it was great! We just sat down and admired all the amazing underwater world through a big panoramic window. We stayed at Premiere Le Reeve Hotel in Sahl Hasheesh - very friendly and professional staff indeed, fine food and a great service. Next year we're definitely coming back to the same hotel and we'll probably choose the same company for organizing our excursions.
