THE $10 MILLION MAN HAS WANNABE BROTHERS

The Globe and Mail, Sunday, November 8/08, reported that the brothers of Maher Arar, who received $10-million for his misappropriation to Syria and alleged torture, as a result of RCMP misinformation to the CIA, are feeling victimized. They want to re-negotiate the compensation they received because, wouldn't you know it, they now feel "that the financial settlement was not enough". It is noted that the eldest brother, Hanssan Arar, was responsible in 1987 for "bringing his six siblings over to join him", including Maher who was then 17 years old.

It is noted that Hanssan is a truck driver. The others work in factories or operate small businesses; and only one of the brothers acquired post -secondary education. One is left to wonder what pressing need there was for Canada to permit them to emigrate to Canada in the first place. Was Canada short of factory workers, truck drivers?
