That's funny. People who figured out how to sail across an ocean were too stupid to feed themselves? Your historical perspective is entirely governed by your hatred of white people. You're just another ignorant racist trying to play intellectual. The history of this nation is far more complex than the anti-white talking points you're using. But that's a cxommon tool of bigots and racists; to make things seem simple so that simple minds can easily digest them.

I don't think it was "white folk" that figured that out. They were your "Latino" brothers who you think you are better than. Christopher Columbus was not White either dude! LOL

Dumb ass Queen of England knew you morons couldn't have made such a journey..so she hired someone capable!

Having gotten permission and funds from Ferdinand and Isabella Columbus set about outfitting a little fleet for a trip across the "Ocean Sea" to find a faster route to China and India. He got three ships, now remembered as the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria.
A replica of the Nina

The Santa Maria was the largest of the ships (and also the slowest). It was Columbus's flagship on the first voyage. It was built in Pontevedra, Galicia. Because of this the Santa Maria was sometimes referred to as "La Gallega", meaning "the Galician". The ship was classified as a carrack, a three or four masted ocean going sailing ship. The Santa Maria had four masts. The fore and mainmasts both carried a square sail, while the mizzen (or aft) mast had a triangular sail. She reportedly sailed well across the Atlantic, but she ran aground near Haiti and broke apart. Her hewn timbers were then used to build a fort known as La Navidad, because the wreck occurred on Christmas Day. The ship was not built especially for this journey, but had been built long before and was rented from its master and owner Juan de la Cosa. As Columbus was the Admiral of the Fleet, Juan was the Captain of the Santa Maria. He would also accompany Columbus on his second and third voyages.

"Pinta", meaning "Painted One", is thought to be a nickname for the second vessel. Her given name is no longer certain. The Pinta was a caravel. This was a smaller two or three masted ship of about 20 meters in length (about 65 feet) and about 7 meters wide (22 feet). It could be crewed by about 25 sailors. It was captained on the first trip by Martín Alonso Pinzón. He was also part owner of both the Niña and the Pinta. Columbus had some difficulty with him on the first voyage. They became separated more than once largely at the seeming instigation of Pinzon.

"Niña" was also a nickname. The third ship was originally named the Santa Clara. The name may have come from the original owner whose name was Juan Nino.1 It was lateen rigged (or Latin rigged), which was a mast with a diagonal yard mounted with a triangular sail. It was captained by Vicente Yáñez Pinzón the brother of the captain of the Pinta. The ship carried a crew of about 25 and was classed a caravel (thought to be about 45 feet long). After the Santa Maria ran aground, Columbus used the Niña as his flagship.

All told, there were about 120 crewmen for the combined fleet. They lived on hard biscuit, salted meat, and fish. They drank beer and water. Of course, they could not drink sea-water because of the high salt content. In that day they had not yet developed methods for distilling the sea-water to remove the salt. Living conditions were difficult. Sleeping was done on the hard deck, often exposed to the weather. Because of the danger of a wooden ship burning to the water-line, fires had to be strictly controlled. The cooking was done by the ships cook in the forward part of the ship. The captain normally had a small cabin in the aft part of the ship.

The three ships set out from Palos, Spain on 3 August 1492.

Unless you are NOW claiming that Latinos are White your argument is again...TOAST!

Due to hundreds of years of meticulous record-keeping, Mexico offers a wealth of church and civil records for the genealogical and historical researcher. It is also the homeland of one in every 10 Americans. Learn more about your Mexican heritage, with these steps for tracing your family tree in Mexico.

Mexico has a rich history stretching back to ancient times. Archaeology sites around the country speak of ancient civilizations flourishing in what is present-day Mexico thousands of years before the arrival of the first Europeans, such as the Olmec, thought by some to be the mother culture of Mesoamerican civilization, who lived around 1200 to 800 BC, and the Maya of the Yucatan Peninsula who flourished from about 250 BC to 900 AD.

Spanish Rule
During the early 15th century the fierce Aztecs rose to power, maintaining dominance over the region until they were defeated in 1519 by Hernan Cortes and his group of just over 900 Spanish explorers. Called "New Spain," the territory then came under control of the Spanish Crown.

Spanish kings encouraged the exploration of new lands by granting conquistadors the right to establish settlements in exchange for one-fifth (el quinto real, the royal fifth) of any treasure discovered.

The colony of New Spain rapidly outgrew the initial borders of the Aztec Empire, encompassing all of present-day Mexico, as well as Central America (as far south as Costa Rica), and much of the present-day southwest United States, including all or parts of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

Spanish Society:

The Spanish continued to rule over most of Mexico until 1821 when Mexico achieved status as an independent country. During that time, the availability of inexpensive land attracted other Spanish immigrants who sought the social status afforded to land owners by Spanish society at that time. These permanent settlers gave rise to four distinct social classes:

Peninsulars, or the ruling class, were people born in Spain or Portugal. To maintain the line, some men sent their wives back to Spain to give birth, to ensure that their children also achieved "peninsular" status.

Criollos were people of pure Spanish descent who were born in New Spain. It was this group, with the support of mestizos and other lower classes, that initiated the 11 years of rebellion to claim independence for Mexico in 1821, in response to increasing taxes and regulations by the Crown.

Mestizos were people of mixed blood (generally used to identify Spanish/Indian ancestry) who ranked lower than the criollos in New Spain’s social hierarchy. Most Mexicans today (more than 65%) are descended from this group.

Indigenas are the native Indians of Mexico. Prior to Mexican independence, several classifications were commonly used by the Spanish to identify people with Indian ancestry, including: indio (Indian), mestizo (half Indian/half white), zambo (half-Indian/half African) and lobo (three-quarters African/one-quarter Indian).

While Mexico has welcomed many other immigrants to its shores, the majority of its population descends from the Spanish, the Indians, or are of mixed Spanish and Indian heritage (mestizos). Blacks and some Asians are also part of the Mexican population.

Hope this helps. Mexicans are a mixture of different cultures. Mexicans were not a pure culture before Spain arrived. Mexicans did not exist until later. They are a mixture of many cultures and different nationalities. Just as the USA is. Caucasian Americans are not just white from one nationality or country. They are a mix of many cultures. It is because of where they live that makes them Americans. The same as with Mexico and many other countries. There are a lot of Black Mexicans here in Mexico that were brought here as slaves also. The Spanish language was brought from Spain. Mexicans speak Spanish brought from Spain. Mexicans are a mixture of White and other cultures and nationalities.

There are many African Americans living outside of the U.S.A. contrary to popular opinion and lack of knowledge.

BlackExpat.com is a website and magazine dedicated to this experience. Its three contributors have grown the site into a community of black folks who live either live abroad, travel extensively or just have questions or interests in what it means to live your life abroad. It’s a great site worth visiting and the free online magazine is a fine example of engaging content.

Everyone does not think of America as the "best ticket" going. Those that believe this however are entitled to their "opinions."

I have lived abroad and I promise you, the only reason I returned is because most of my family is here and my mother became ill. Americans should not "flatter" themselves or bill this country out to be the only place "everyone" wants to come. It is NOT true.

The amount of ignorance here is unreal. Latino people are more American than you guys from the States. They have a longer history and real culture. People are people no matter what their background is. Get educated and stop being discriminative. You are giving people from the States a bad name. Yes jumping the boarder is bad but don't include a whole continent of people with your prejudice.

You're suggesting that Americans don't have a real culture. Are you OK with a group of people coming into your own country, uninvited, and then demanding that everyone cater to their culture? What sense does that make. What you describe as discrimination is people objecting to illegal entry by border jumpers. Name one nation on this planet where you can simply walk across the border and start making your own rules. Where can you walk into a country without being labeled a criminal? Mexico? Nope, anyone who enters Mexico illegally is arrested.

When Mexicans boldly protested in America, waving Mexican flags and taking advantage of our right to free speech, the consequences began to take hold. What you are seeing now is the action finally reaching the street. Even Obama is realizing that getting illegal Mexicans out of the country is what Americans want, especially the black Americans who's jobs have been stolen by these illegal malcontents. You're about to see a substantial change in the way America deals with the border and the people who cross it illegally. Even the Black Panthers are organizing a border patrol!

Is there anti-American racism is Mexico? Can we go there and get what illegals get here? Can we demand, and protest in the streets? I've asked many times and can't seem to get any answers. I would even volunteer to work border patrol. But while I get no answers, they keep pouring in here like a nasty over flowing toilet!!!

If you wanna keep dishing out money and letting them and their culture with no morals keep coming here to take over, then you just sit there and do nothing!Oh...and while you're sitting there you might wanna learn Spanish since that's their goal for us to become a Spanish speaking nation.

The movement is called the new "La Reconquista". Some still haven't gotten it through their thick skulls. To them the reconquista folks are still "guests". Nice "guests" overstaying their welcome and being demanding- kind of like obnoxious relatives.

I speak fluent spanish and French and Arabic. Didn't take a federal law to mandate it. I learn them because I wanted to be able to communicate with other cultures. You would do well to do the same. English isn't the only language spoken in the world. Unless you want to stay in your own little limited world... Rosetta Stone would be a good investment sweety

I would love to learn another language or two so I could travel internationally. Spanish (farm language) would be the last on my list.

That is not unique and exclusive to just America. There are people from all over the world living everywhere! America is the only one that boasts about it. Yet...look at how the masses are treated.
America has more of her people incarcerated than all the other developed nations of the world!
