Verification would have helped this article regarding statements regarding Jim La Pointe, who was indeed born in SD but was raised and educated in SoCal (graduated from our own Woodbridge High). It's refreshing that Native American involvement in politics receives media coverage, yet we also should credit our local educational systems for fostering national and cultural issue awareness from a young age.
"La Pointe was born and raised on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota and spent 20 years working with the American Indian Movement, a civil rights activist group. He moved [returned] to Orange County 10 years ago."
