blah. my commute from the northside to downtown just keeps getting longer and longer and longer from rockwell brown line to downtown. 45 minutes. 55 minutes. 1 hour. 1 hour+ now. a nicely planned public relations piece to passify their incredibly outraged customers. cta sucks!!!!!!!

When are they going to start running the purple line clock-wise around the loop again? Not sure why that ever changed.

This was scheduled to finish by December anyways! Where did June come from???

They're going to be AHEAD of schedule?
Did they make some kind of satanic pact to swing that?

God I hope this is true--if you live north of wrigley field (aka where "Daley's Chicago" stops), the southbound morning commute SUCKS!!!

So CTA figures out that spending an additional $1.6 million will save six months of travel headaches and $200K, and this is something to kvetch about? Some people are just gifted in their ability to find the dark cloud inside any silver lining.
And CTA started running the Purple Line (Evanston Express) as a local between Belmont and the Loop in the 1990s as a way to provide extra service for Brown Line stations on the near North side, as Brown ridership began skyrocketing.
Once the entire Brown Line can handle 8-car trains, I do wonder whether that'll change. I miss the true Evanston Express, too. Of course, I also wish the North Shore Line could be restored...

So does this mean that Uptown's Wilson El Station rennovation and track replacement that has been delayed for years on the Red Line might actually get started within this new millineum?
And does this mean that the missing El track gutters/ shields that CTA contractually was required to install 15 years ago to protect Challenger Park and neighborhs alley's might get funded and installed this century?

Well thanks but only a 5 minute savings? My commute has gone up by 15-20 minutes each way, not 5!
Maybe after Diversey and Wellington are opened back up the L will finally be worth taking. I can ride my bike all the way downtown faster than taking the L.

I'll believe it when I see it.
What's the status with the Purple Line? Will the return to running the other way around the loop?

It says that the track improvements will take 5 minutes off my commute time. Please tell me it's off the pre-construction time and not my current travel time! LOL

Ron Huberman uses Wilson everyday, so of course it will be renovated soon.

Where have you been? They started the Wilson renovation some time ago.

That's the first good news from the CTA I've heard in a long time.

So the CTA announces they are going to speed up the work to correct the the wrongs of the Kreusi era and you people are whining? How about if they don't spend the money and just keep it like it is. Some people are never happy.

Bob wrote: When are they going to start running the purple line clock-wise around the loop again? Not sure why that ever changed. They ran the purple the same direction as the Brown to try and keep them spaced out more evenly (brown and purple) as they return back up north. They wanted to avoid having purple and brown trains bunched together, only to meet red line trains up north and have all 3 bunched together and waiting. I'm not sure why they don't change it back right now, seeing that the north side tracks are complete. I really miss the counter-clockwise purple for my ride back home.

You must have been riding your bike for awhile, then, because Diversey has been open for over a month now.
