I was in Austria in June for the Austrian Wine Marketing Board's annual wine summit. On my first day in Austria I had about five hours to myself which I spent walking around the beautiful city of Vienna. Your article brings back many wonderful memories for me. My only regret is that I didn't have enough time to experience more of it, including the sites and stomping grounds you mention here. I did however get to enjoy a slice of Sachertorte, which was a tasty treat.
Vienna is also neat because it has fully operating vineyards within the city limits. It's one of the only cities in the world with this feature. Many winemakers grow and produce their own wine there, which they serve in their respective heurigens. Overall, it's a magical city that should be visited and experienced by all. |
