Walt Disney World fires back on guns at work

I'm not a big fan of this law but the idea that Disney can exempt themselves with some doubtful interpretation of this or any law is offensive. Perhaps the sweetheart legislation Disney enjoys should be repealed.

Disney was quite clever in how they got the loophole in and then used it to cover themselves.
I don't agree with what they have done, but you do have to admire the cleverness. Matt |

2 This law is terrible. It infringes on property rights. If I own a property and I don't want guns on my property I have every right to prohibit guns on my property. PERIOD! The government has no business telling me that I cannot regulate activities on my property as I see fit. If an employee doesn't think that policy is fair, they can find a job somewhere else! Don't let the door smack you on your well-armed butt as you leave! (Chuckle) |

Does it make you wonder how "clever" they have been on other issues? |

OF COURSE Disney is exempt from every law in Florida!
Employment, Labor, Constituntional Law, just about everything you can think of! Isn't it great that Corporate America tells the State what they can and can't do!!! But you folks love the mouse, The Mouse pays low wages, charges high prices and then says they are a good neighbor! BULL |

Tim, MY VEHICLE is not your property!
Just another way for the Government to infringe on individual rights, I know you think it means nothing, But I think our founding fathers had more brains then the knuckleheads trying to write new laws today!! |

1 This is sure to cause a redneck revolt. Maybe next time I go to Disney I won't have to see slackjawed yokel slapping his spawn around. |

Gun Owner Victim Choose one I think from the standpoint of potential rapists, carjackers, stalkers, ex husbands bent on revenge, ex boyfriends likewise bent on revenge, etc. etc. this decision by Disney sets up 60,000 WDW employees on their way to and from work or in the parking lots at work as "Easy Targets, Minimal risk of being shot" Great going Disney! Shows how little you value the lives of your employees. Why not now just paint a target on the front and back of their chests ? Maybe too, you can issue them a WDW employee decal for their back window: "Unarmed Disney Employee - No threat to your safety" Now, great thinkers, so smug, so smart, how to you propose to keep predators from just following these people in or out and doing with them as they please knowing full well they most likely are all compliant little sheep? |

1 Disney has every right (the interpretation of this soon-to-be-overturned in court law notwithstanding) to enforce its property rights. As Tim stated, if you don't like it, find an employer who is willing to have you keep your gun in your car on their property. |

1 I'll wait here while you fumble around for a rationalization. |

You forgot to add that through their influence both in Tallahassee and Washington they came in under the radar and before the public became aware of it, had bought all the land up they needed at basically agricultural prices, made themselves independent of most existing government jurisdictions, public utility franchises, and established what is akin to an independent country within a country. Disney reminds me very much of how various churches wangle themselves out of complying with various City codes, State statutes, Federal laws such as Historical Districts, paying property taxes, etc., providing sanctuary to felons and so on. Turnover of employees out there is constantly at a high level - so high that they even have to impress upon salaried employees to volunteer to work low level service jobs at concessions in the park regardless of their normal jobs on a rotational basis. |

Since there is no Florida law that prevents the VISITORS to Disney from leaving firearms in THEIR vehicles, what's the point in banning employees the same right? |

Thank you Disney for the use of common sense. Guns do not belong in any work place except police departmaents and othe law enforcement locales. More guns equate to more shootings the NRA has to wake up to the fact that guns do kill. I only hope that more employers fight this stupid law passed by stupid law makers and supported by the stupid NRA.

Good for Disney. Someone or some entity with power needs to bring sanity to this issue.

Disney was the worst thing to ever happen in central florida, too bad the whole complex can't be moved to the midwest somewhere, biggest ripoff in the world
|
|
During the THIRTY SEVEN YEARS that Disney World exists, how many employees got shot in the parking lot? A BIG FAT ZERO. This law is going to do a lot more harm. |

guns don't kill, its the criminals who kill, move to Canada where you will be safe
