Water saves you in more ways than you think.
Water is important because God willed for Baptism to be done that way. Regardless if you think its meaningless, to God its not. The 20th century born againers probably should have left Baptism alone. The consequences for reversing the word of God can't be good.
----

Did I say it is meaningless????? Or did I say "There is no saving power in water....."

VII. Baptism and the Lord's Supper...per Scripture...

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper.

The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

Matthew 3:13-17; 26:26-30; 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; 14:22-26; Luke 3:21-22; 22:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; 20:7; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 10:16,21; 11:23-29; Colossians 2:12.

Absolutely, Oxbow. Sirach, Maccabees 1&2, and Tobit are NOT scriptural. We KNOW this because they were NOT part of the JEWISH Canon of scripture. The CATHOLICS added these books to the Bible just as they added MURDER and MAYHEM and TORTURE and HELL of the INQUISITION to their doctrine.

I got into a discussion with a young man that says that it is a sin to partake of the fermented fruit of the vine aka wine.

I told him that whoever told him that was contradicting what the written word instructs us to do. It tells us in Timothy I believe to take a little wine for our stomachs sake.

A glass of wine can help the food digest as well.

Drinking a glass of wine every now and then is okay with the Lord God but don't over do it like Noah and get blasted,LOL.

I guess Noah decided that after the flood and all that, he had to have a stiff drink to settle his nerves,LOL.

It is documented throughout history how the Catholic church has absolutely departed from Christ - and yet, Catholics claim they can do whatever the POPE wants them to do and do it in Jesus' name.
Catholics murdered in Jesus name ... by following the Pope.
Catholics tortured in Jesus name ... by following the Pope.
Catholics waged war in Jesus name ... by following the Pope.
Catholics stole in Jesus name ... by following the Pope.
-
How can it NOT be more CLEAR ...that the POPE HIMSELF is NOT following Christ and so ... for Catholics to follow the Pope shows they absolutely are NOT following Christ?
-
*therefore, they are NOT Christian*

Those of you that are as confused about the use of wine aka fermented drink, study the following link.

http://www.gci.org/series/alcohol/bible

Wine aka fermented drink used in moderation is okay by God. In Psalms 104 it is shown that God even presented them with wine to make their hearts merry.

Wine is a gift from God so why would some misled Christians turn the partaking of wine into a curse?

Unfermented Grape juice doesn't make the heart merry no matter how much you drink. But wine does.

How insane is it, really, to believe that a TRUE follower of Christ would think that Christ would want his followers to murder and torture in his name?... and how insane is it, to defend those that have done so?
-
Yet Pope Innocent did just that & ordered his followers to torture and murder - and Catholic followers obliged and now we suffer Islam as a result.
-
Again:
Constantine (and his followers) showed the Semitic people of the area how to do it - for 300 YEARS
