And Oldgee and truth, I believe if you removed your forced ignorance, you'd see that the Catholic Church didn't open up their Bibles and proceed to start a church like everyone after Luther did.
The Bible came from the Church. Everything flowed together in unison. Church, sacred tradition, and sacred scripture. You can't isolate one and definitely can't use one against the other.
WERE THE FATHERS UNANIMOUS IN THEIR INTERPRETATION OF THIS SCRIPTURE?
The Fathers of the church, as the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kenrick, USA, who attended Vatican I, himself acknowledged, were divided. Eight say the Rock means the twelve apostles as a body. Sixteen say it refers to Christ Himself. Seventeen say it refers to St. Peter and forty four say it means the faith which Peter professed. It is clear that the Rock of the church is the infallible Rock of Ages, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

<quoted text>V. THE MANY FORMS OF PENANCE IN CHRISTIAN LIFE
1434 The interior penance of the Christian can be expressed in many and various ways. Scripture and the Fathers insist above all on three forms, fasting, prayer, and almsgiving,31 which express conversion in relation to oneself, to God, and to others. Alongside the radical purification brought about by Baptism or martyrdom they cite as means of obtaining forgiveness of sins: effort at reconciliation with one's neighbor, tears of repentance, concern for the salvation of one's neighbor, the intercession of the saints, and the practice of charity "which covers a multitude of sins."32
1435 Conversion is accomplished in daily life by gestures of reconciliation, concern for the poor, the exercise and defense of justice and right,33 by the admission of faults to one's brethren, fraternal correction, revision of life, examination of conscience, spiritual direction, acceptance of suffering, endurance of persecution for the sake of righteousness. Taking up one's cross each day and following Jesus is the surest way of penance.34
1436 Eucharist and Penance. Daily conversion and penance find their source and nourishment in the Eucharist, for in it is made present the sacrifice of Christ which has reconciled us with God. Through the Eucharist those who live from the life of Christ are fed and strengthened. "It is a remedy to free us from our daily faults and to preserve us from mortal sins."35
1437 Reading Sacred Scripture, praying the Liturgy of the Hours and the Our Father - every sincere act of worship or devotion revives the spirit of conversion and repentance within us and contributes to the forgiveness of our sins.
1438 The seasons and days of penance in the course of the liturgical year (Lent, and each Friday in memory of the death of the Lord) are intense moments of the Church's penitential practice.36 These times are particularly appropriate for spiritual exercises, penitential liturgies, pilgrimages as signs of penance, voluntary self-denial such as fasting and almsgiving, and fraternal sharing (charitable and missionary works).
1439 The process of conversion and repentance was described by Jesus in the parable of the prodigal son, the center of which is the merciful father:37 the fascination of illusory freedom, the abandonment of the father's house; the extreme misery in which the son finds himself after squandering his fortune; his deep humiliation at finding himself obliged to feed swine, and still worse, at wanting to feed on the husks the pigs ate; his reflection on all he has lost; his repentance and decision to declare himself guilty before his father; the journey back; the father's generous welcome; the father's joy - all these are characteristic of the process of conversion. The beautiful robe, the ring, and the festive banquet are symbols of that new life - pure worthy, and joyful - of anyone who returns to God and to the bosom of his family, which is the Church. Only the heart Of Christ Who knows the depths of his Father's love could reveal to us the abyss of his mercy in so simple and beautiful a way.
1440 Sin is before all else an offense against God, a rupture of communion with him. At the same time it damages communion with the Church. For this reason conversion entails both God's forgiveness and reconciliation with the Church, which are expressed and accomplished liturgically by the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation.38
You must feel guilty about your filthy mouth.

Ephesians 3:12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Conclusion...absolutely no reason to go to a priest to confess our sins...none

So both Jesus and Peter are the Rock?
and before you say Jesus' words are blatantly clear...clear for who??
Jesus is God. His title of 'rock' is actually an understatement. He clearly renamed Simon, Rock. And clearly gave him the keys and the power to bind and loose.
"I will give you the keys".
See, did Jesus not say that clearly.
"whatever YOU bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven; whatever YOU loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven"
Jesus' words are clear to me, and who are you to usurp my opinion? I have a Bible too, ya know. I see Our Lord claiming to be the messiah. I see Him organizing a group of Apostles. I see Him giving one of them a special role. He said His Church would always be protected. Hell will never prevail against it. "on this rock I'll build my Church and the gates of hell shall never prevail against it"

His words are clear to me. Is there a secret hidden message the Lord was trying to convey, but every body missed until the Bible was published?
Did the Lord really mean for us to go on a scavenger hunt with some of His Apostles writings??

Logic tells me that the only way to ensure stability, continuity, and order, is to give one man a special role.
Curiosity makes me look at what the Apostles actually did, not wrote. I read the accounts of the men when knew the Apostles personally. They sound really really Catholic. They taught nothing like what the modern born again movement teaches. Nothing. You guys seriously undid every Sacrament and removed the Church. Now is just a chaotic free for all that you say is Christianity.

That verse you slung at us could easily be applied to you and your family as well as whatever sect you belong to.
Of course, the problem is that nobody knows who you are. you say your a minister. You say God verbally spoke to you. You say your grandpa conversed with the Apostle Paul. You say you healed someone by holding the KJV up to their forehead. You say you are an authority on our sacred scripture...
Yet, you cowardly hide behind the internet, anonymously posing as a pastor? Lets examine the sect you belong to or created. Shall we?
There is not one person on here that takes you seriously.
And this trash you pulled up is proof. And the Bible verse you misused to support this trash is also proof.
You are wrong to speak for everyone on this forum...When you say "not one person here takes you seriously" you are speaking for your fellow Catholic brothers not. You do not speak for me or Nick or others. No one should question how deep ones faith is in God.We don't have that right to judge others personal devotion to God.

Pardon me for saying, but your thoughts are jumbled and are hard to decipher at times. My suggestion for you is to take a few extra seconds and double check your post for grammar, spelling ang continuity of the post.

Of course Jesus speaks of and about the Spirit. That was his message. Anything else you garner, well, it's all speculationm, unproven and in fact, generated by man's view of an unknown entity.

Why would you think fallible men could define an infallibel being? How have you discerned this?

"SAYING TRINITY. is,our, human concept of God being in three persons"
- this is your error - we are humans and cannot perceive something that hasn't been seen by anyone in many millenia.
- "God" is not any "person", never has been, and probably never will be. Right here you use words that are inaccurate and of man's mind.

"EHAT does,so called Thomas, say that you have yet to tell us "
- this portion of your post, I did not understand at all.

I have a hunch that nobody would privately take him serious. Publicly you do for reasons I do not know. He couldn't be further removed from the Orthodox faith. Your sacraments are blasphemy according to this guy who says the Holy Spirit interprets the Bible for him.
So fine, if you want to publicly take him serious for that. I don't. And I know at least have the non Catholics don't.

Jesus renamed Simon, Rock. Without a doubt the dumbest thing you've said to date.

Psalm 62:1 For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation.
2 He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.

* So verses like this are now null and void and the Rock has been renamed to Peter?

*Christ is the Rock ALL OVER SCRIPTURE but He renamded it to Simon...really Clay?

And Sera, I know many many sincere, godly, devout pastors. I went to high school with one. Great guy all around.
Prestons interpretations of the Bible says I'm going to eternal hell for being Catholic. He's not afraid to tell me it either. So no, I do not believe the Holy Spirit has anything to do with his interpretations. I don't think he's a legitimate Minister, no matter how many verses he's memorized either. He backs off on you want guys because you're polite to him and you have a common enemy. That's a wolf in sheep's clothing, Sera.
