The Rosary is at the heart of a "Christ-centered prayer". It has all the depth of the gospel message in its entirety.
The purpose of the rosary is to help us meditate on the great mysteries of our salvation. Pius XII called it a compendium of the gospel. The main focus is on Jesus—his birth, life, death and resurrection. The Our Fathers remind us that Jesus' Father is the initiator of salvation. The Hail Marys remind us to join with Mary in contemplating these mysteries. They also make us aware that Mary was and is intimately joined with her Son, as an intercessory, in all the mysteries of his earthly and heavenly existence. The Glorys remind us that the purpose of all life is the glory of the Trinity.
The rosary appeals to many, in its simplicity! The constant repetition of words helps create an atmosphere in which to contemplate the mysteries of God to help our focus on Christ's presence, His forgiveness and Mary's intercession in prayer. We sense that Jesus and Mary are with us in the joys and sorrows of life. We grow in hope that God will bring us to share in the glory of Jesus Eternal Salvation forever.

Matthew 6:7

Use not vain repetitions -

To repeat any words without meaning them,

is certainly a vain repetition.

Therefore we should be extremely careful in all our prayers to mean what we say; and

to say only what we mean

from the bottom of our hearts.

The vain and heathenish repetitions which we are here warned against, are most dangerous, and

yet very common;

which is a principal cause why so many, who still profess religion, are a disgrace to it.

Indeed all the words in the world are not equivalent to one holy desire. And

the very best prayers are but vain repetitions,

if they are not the language of the heart.

We know your ethical standards here.

You want to do ethical citations? Here is one standard of what you use. This is real world stuff where you actually have to prove yourself, not the "blog world" where you can be the expert on Orthodoxy and Catholicism.

I have used it many times:

Source material must be documented in the body of the paper by citing the author(s) and date(s) of the sources. The underlying principle is that ideas and words of others must be formally acknowledged. The reader can obtain the full source citation from the list of references that follows the body of the paper.

A.When the names of the authors of a source are part of the formal structure of the sentence, the year of publication appears in parentheses following the identification of the authors. Consider the following example:

Wirth and Mitchell (1994) found that although there was a reduction in insulin dosage over a period of two weeks in the treatment condition compared to the control condition, the difference was not statistically significant.

[Note: and is used when multiple authors are identified as part of the formal structure of the sentence. Compare this to the example in the following section.]

B.When the authors of a source are not part of the formal structure of the sentence, both the authors and year of publication appear in parentheses. Consider the following example:

Reviews of research on religion and health have concluded that at least some types of religious behaviors are related to higher levels of physical and mental health (Gartner, Larson, & Allen, 1991; Koenig, 1990; Levin & Vanderpool, 1991; Maton & Pargament, 1987; Paloma & Pendleton, 1991; Payne, Bergin, Bielema, & Jenkins, 1991).

[Note: & is used when multiple authors are identified in parenthetical material. Note also that when several sources are cited parenthetically, they are ordered alphabetically by first authors' surnames and separated by semicolons.]

C.When a source that has two authors is cited, both authors are included every time the source is cited.

D.When a source that has three, four, or five authors is cited, all authors are included the first time the source is cited. When that source is cited again, the first author’s surname and “et al.” are used. Consider the following example:
Reviews of research on religion and health have concluded that at least some types of religious behaviors are related to higher levels of physical and mental health (Payne, Bergin, Bielema, & Jenkins, 1991).

Payne et al.(1991) showed that …

E.When a source that has six or more authors is cited, the first author’s surname and “et al.” are used every time the source is cited (including the first time).

F. Every effort should be made to cite only sources that you have actually read. When it is necessary to cite a source that you have not read (“Grayson” in the following example) that is cited in a source that you have read (“Murzynski & Degelman” in the following example), use the following format for the text citation and list only the source you have read in the References list:

Grayson (as cited in Murzynski & Degelman, 1996) identified four components of body language that were related to judgments of vulnerability.

G.To cite a personal communication (including letters, emails, and telephone interviews), include initials, surname, and as exact a date as possible. Because a personal communication is not “recoverable” information, it is not included in the References section. For the text citation, use the following format:

B. F. Skinner (personal communication, February 12, 1978) claimed …
H.To cite a Web document, use the author-date format. If no author is identified, use the first few words of the title in place of the author. If no date is provided, use “n.d.” in place of the date. Consider the following examples:

How much repetition is correct? Why not 100 hail marys in a row? Why not 200? Does saying the rosary over and over make you a better person? NO!

Like most other elements of your belief, catholicism didn't invent or create prayer beads. Long before christiainity was even a term, religious beliefs had praying/prayer beads. Catholicism just jumped on the band wagon with those that came before with THEIR own version.

Nothing UNIQUE about prayer beads.

who="Concerned in Brasil" Did the Roman Catholic church give us our Bible?
by Matt Slick
Roman Catholics often say that it was their church that gave us the Bible. They sometimes claim this when defending their "Sacred Tradition" so that they might support extra-biblical teachings such as purgatory, penance, indulgences, and Mary worship. They often say the only way the Christian church knew what books are to be included in the Canon of Scripture was because it was revealed by word-of-mouth in the early church; that is, by the tradition of the Catholic Church.
Unfortunately, this argument implies that tradition is superior to Scripture. Of course, we are not saying that the Roman Catholic church teaches that tradition is above Scripture. But when Sacred Tradition is claimed to be the thing by which Scripture is given, then tradition is inadvertently the thing that gives blessing and approval to the Bible. Heb. 7:7 says, "But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater." The unfortunate psychological effect of saying that Roman Catholic tradition is what gave us the Bible, is that it elevates their tradition to a level far greater than what is permitted in Scripture. In fact, it is contradicted by scripture:
"Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that in us you might learn not to exceed what is written, in order that no one of you might become arrogant in behalf of one against the other," (1 Cor. 4:6).

Lets assume Adam and Eve had Tom, Dick, Harry, George, and Bubba..
Lets further assume that they had Mary, Jane, Kitty, Mitty, and Grace.
Lets assume that Tom took a wife. Does that mean it had to be one of his sisters???? No way Jose....
Dick could have take to wife Mary, and they gave birth to Jenny..
Jenny took Harry as her husband and they had Jojo..
Tom took Jojo as his wife....which was not his sister!!!!! She was kin to him....but not his sister...

who="Tony17" May I advise that you read in the KJV....... 1st Timothy 6:16.
Many of you guys, in your understanding are in rebellion in your beliefs to the word of God.
Scripture tells us in that verse that the Lord alone possesses immortality. Now your agreement with that verse is not desired nor required. Kay?

----------

Man has a mortal body of flesh...created by God. He is an individual person (soul). The Spirit that keeps the flesh/soul alive is the Spirit (breath of God) that was breathed by God into Adam. God breathed His own breath into the mortal body that He created, "and man became a LIVING soul."
Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life...and have it MORE ABUNDANTLY." "He that believes in Me shall NEVER DIE." If Jesus Christ is received by that mortal man, Jesus said that "I shall raise him up to LIFE ETERNAL."
In the first resurrection, the mortal body of the believer will be changed to an immortal body, just like Jesus has...undying.
The unbeliever will be raised in the last resurrection, and judged in the White Throne Judgment (Rev. 20). The Spirit/breath of God will return to Him Who gave it, and the body and soul will be left without life.
The torment of hell will be that of a 'knowing' soul that has no life (breath of God).

who="Tony17" Everyone that finally overcomes will live forever in the Kingdom of God here on earth but they are NOT ETERNAL. Eternal means that you have no beginning nor ending and ONLY GOD fits that description. Or are you,LIKE SATAN, claiming that you will be like the MOST HIGH?
And FYI, there are deeper revelations of words that only the Holy Spirit can give than what and how man can define them.......EVEN FROM THE GREEK or the Hebrew etc. KAY?
Let the Holy Spirit lead you and learn not to lean unto your own understanding.

----------
The NEW BIRTH results in being part of the body/bride of Christ. He is eternal...if I receive HIM, then I HAVE eternal life.
