Christmas tree
The Christmas tree is still one of the Western world’s most beloved symbols, although it had no meaning in the Judeo-Christian context but was drawn almost entirely from pagan tree worship. Preserved through the centuries in central Europe, it was unknown in English-speaking countries until after 1840, when Prince Albert the German bridegroom of Queen Victoria, brought the custom from his native land to England. The Teutonic Christmas tree dated back to Yule celebrations, along with the candles, gifts, and sacrificial pig with an apple in its mouth. But there were pagan elements from southern Europe also. Certain priest of Attis called dendrophori,“tree-bearers,” annually selected a pine tree from the sacred grove (pinea silva) to carry the effigy of the god into his Roman temple. The dendrophori were charged with the duty of setting up and decorating the tree, upon which the god was presented for sacrifice.(1) Perhaps this was the origin of the custom of hanging small male effigies, such as gingerbread men, on the Christmas tree.
Like all evergreens, such as the holly and ivy, the pine tree stood for a promise of eternal life because it kept its vital appearance even when other plants died off during the winter. Naturally this applied only to the living pine tree, lighted and decorated in the woods where it stood. Trees that were cut and brought indoors would soon become brown and dead, thus contradicting the symbolic meaning.

Jesus could have made his message very clear.

As God, Jesus could have been so clear that the average person picking up and reading the Bible for the first time today - would immediately see the wisdom and know that it could not have come from man.

This rarely if ever happens.

Jesus could have been so clear and the proof of his godliness so obvious that all seven billion people on the planet would have aligned with him, rather than fragmenting into dozens of bizarre and often warring religions.

By doing this, Jesus could have completely prevented the Crusades and 9/11, among many other things.

No Inquisitions. No church prisons and torture chambers.

No 30 Years War. No 100 Years War. Maybe no wars period.

Pity. This is yet more strong evidence that this nition of God is imaginary, along with all other gods in human history.

From my perception, it should be of special interest to readers of the bible, why the character portrayed as Jesus didn't lecture his father about being so brutal (for instance) in wanting people to stone each other to death.

It's what was not uttered by Jesus that makes the story so ridiculous and suspect in that the words simply came from men with little concept of anything but over-active imagination.

A savior who preaches love ought to have said "Hey dad ... why DID you create evil anyway? What was your purpose" ... and questions such as that. But the character of Jesus was silent on those very important issues.

The authors of the bible weren't "up to much."

If the infant was born to Hindu parents -- and died with original sin, why would any wise and just God treat that child with less love?
The men that compiled the data in all the so-called holy books had no sense of justice ... so it follows that the supposed god they wrote stories FOR would also have no sense of justice.

That's refreshing. Thank you.
That's not what the Bible says, so as you know, fundies would place the Hindu child in Hell. In fact, all Hindus.
So did the Catholic church I believe, up up to less than 100 years ago. Some call it the Americanization of the Catholic church.
The hierarchy of churches find themselves lost for words.

History proves that religion was and still is brutal, and still the preachers want to make it seem that it is holy.

The two stories simply don't go together.

I suggest that people don't "invoke" imaginary gods into their psyches, as once those images take over, they will control you to believe utter nonsense as being based on truth.

What does your sense of justice tell you?
What does the Bible imply?
The Bible seems clear. The child will not be saved -- through no fault of its own, no free will, no comprehension, just born at the wrong place in the wrong culture.
Why does that God give you joy? Fear it seems.
If God doesn't save non Christians just because of where they were born, then God isn't Love. God will justly decide the fate of all human beings. Those of us who know Jesus are the most 'at risk' of losing salvation, because we've been blessed with Gods grace and if we turn our backs on Christ now, we're hosed.
The Muslim or Hindu child forced into their faith do not know Jesus (Through no fault of their own)
Its logical to believe, since God is infinite love and perfectly just, He wouldn't condemn them soley for not being Christian.
I don't think the born again cults know God and shouldn't be tampering with the Holy Scriptures. So I would advise you to get your proper teachings from the Church that gave us the scriptures. The Catholic Church.
