TO HOJO:JOHANNESBURG (Reuters)- A South African cardinal who helped elect Pope Francis this week has told the BBC pedophilia is an illness and not a crime.
Cardinal Wilfrid Fox Napier, the Catholic Archbishop of Durban, told BBC Radio 5 on Saturday that pedophilia was a "disorder" that needed to be treated.
"From my experience," pedophilia is actually an illness. It's not a "criminal condition", it's an illness," he said.
Napier said he knew of at least two priests who became pedophiles after they were abused as children.
"Now don't tell me that those people are criminally responsible like somebody who chooses to do something like that. I don't think you can really take the position and say that person deserves to be punished. He was himself damaged."
The Catholic Church has had its image deeply tarnished by a widespread child sex abuse scandal.

Exaggerated, over-blown and taken out of context---this is just more of the same distorted anti-catholic propaganda, that you non-catholic "editorialist heretics are so "famous for"! I really "couldn't care less" as to what you think!! I KNOW the TRUTH of TRUE Church History and the TRUE INTERPRETATION of the bible by the Early Church Fathers in 397AD. Your "personal opinions" are laced with bigotry and hypocricy, with no basis of biblical or historical truth to back up ANYTHING you say!!

All of the Apostles had died by 100; therefore, direct connections to Jesus the Christ had become few and far between. The main bulk of Christianity began to slowly but surely stray from the truth, accepting too many conventions from the world around them.

A distinction was soon made between “elders” and “bishops,” with a bishop presiding over a group of elders, and from there a bishop without necessarily having the elders present.

“Bishops” of larger metropolitan areas began exercising more influence over the surrounding lands. Pagan festivals celebrating the spring equinox and the winter solstice were “Christianized” into Easter and Christmas, respectively.

Many of these developments and changes had developed throughout the second and third centuries, yet they had certainly crystallized a new denomination by 312, when the “Catholic” church received official sanction from the Roman Empire.

This entity would develop and last until 1054, when the western and eastern Mediterranean churches split, the former becoming the Roman Catholic Church, the latter, the Eastern Orthodox Church.

That being the case....there is no way the church Christ said He built was the Roman Catholic Church...It did not "make the scene" until 312!!!!!!!!

The Apostles were baptized in such manner, and it gave them the ability to perform miracles.
They taught baptism into Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. This baptism is not John's baptism and it is not the Baptism of the Holy Spirit the Apostles received. It is the only baptism now. It is the one Peter taught in Acts 2 and it is the one the Eunuch submitted to.
well that's what you were told by a man and even summited to...

Jesus said "you must be born-again" and the only way to do that is to get Baptized from above.

Sabanfan, if you don't have the Spirit of Jesus living in you then you are not of Him, it's All about Him and what He did, you must receive His Spirit, beg the Father in Jesus name if you have to. Blessings.

Absolutely pathetic!!! Delusional!!!! Asinine!!!!

Proof from Scripture:

In the New Testament, there is no mention of the papacy, worship/adoration of Mary (or the immaculate conception of Mary, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the assumption of Mary, or Mary as co-redemptrix and mediatrix), petitioning saints in heaven for their prayers, apostolic succession, the ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments, infant baptism, confession of sin to a priest, purgatory, indulgences, or the equal authority of church tradition and Scripture.

The Real First Pope

The great false church system of Rome had its beginning in the day of the apostles of Christ. Unfortunately, this conflict did not go its separate way but mixed in to one religious system. This is why there are so many pagan ideas and doctrines in the Rome Catholic Church.

The first conflict between early Christianity and false religion of paganism was recorded in the book of Acts 8:9-25. This quarrel happened between a pagan high priest named Simon Magus and the apostles Peter and Philip.

The person that is mentioned and that we need to concentrate on is Simon Magus and how he transformed himself into the first leader of the false world wide religious system, the Catholic Church.

As Hasting’s explains, "Luke’s well-known plan of describing the first meeting between Christianity and rival systems" (Hasting’s Bible Dictionary. p.498). Luke gives in detail the principal character who established the so-called Christian counterpart of the Truth in the Apostles’ days. This is the reason the Apostles in their Church letters many times mention the false system as already in existence.

Did Simon go his way after his strong rebuke for Peter? No, he did not, he considered himself to be a Christian. Several historians note this. Notice the comment of Hasting’s Dictionary of the Apostolic Church, Vol.2, p.496: "But it need NOT be supposed that when Simon broke with the Christians he renounced all he had learned. It is more probable that he carried some of the Christian ideas with him, and that he wove these into a system of his own. This system is a mixture of pagan ideas wrapped with Christian names and identities."

We further find in Schaff’s History of the Church a reference to this Simon Magus. He says: "The author, or first representative of this baptized HEATHENISM, according to the uniform testimony of Christian antiquity, is Simon Magus, who unquestionably adulterated Christianity with pagan ideas and practices, and gave himself out, in a pantheistic style for an emanation of God." (Apostolic Christianity, Vol.2, p.566)

Harnack, a church historian, states that Simon Magus "proclaimed a doctrine in which the Jewish faith was strangely and grotesquely mixed with babylonian myths, together with some Greek additions. The mysterious worship ... in consequence of the widened horizon and the deepening religious feeling, finally the wild syncretism, whose aim was a universal, all contributed to gain adherents for Simon." (Vol.1, p.244)

There is no direct mention of "Popes" et. But their is incredible mention and scenarios of people, men, and groups who absolutely match what the Pope, Rome, and others will do. Thus if the shoe fit, it does.

With Ratzinger's resignation we are definitely in a very dark season. This is all Biblical.

The Donation of Constantine: This document supposedly came from Constantine, and it ceded the power of the western Roman Empire to the bishop of Rome. This document was officially presented to Pepin, king of France, in 754, and accepted as legitimate. For the next five hundred years, the pope used this document to effectively control western Europe. In the thirteenth century, scholars within the Roman Catholic church itself proved the document to be a forgery, composed not long before it was presented to Pepin.

The Crusades: Called for by Pope Urban II in 1095 when the Muslims closed Jerusalem to all foreigners, the Crusades have few parallels in bloodiness and savagery. Roman Catholic knights from throughout western Europe traveled to Asia Minor and Israel, sacking and plundering the cities of Eastern Orthodox and Muslims alike, raping women and slaughtering all of the men, all in the name of Christ.

The Fourth Crusade: In 1204, another Crusade was called, this time for Egypt. Assembling in Constantinople, the Crusaders began to get involved with the political intrigues of the Byzantines. Losing patience quickly, the Crusaders turned on Constantinople and conquered the city, killing thousands of the Eastern Orthodox. This action firmly divided the Eastern Orthodox church from the Roman Catholic church.

The Reformation: The excesses of the Roman Catholic church in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries led many to become greatly dissatisfied with the Roman Catholic church. These excesses include popes who had secret affairs, a pope using his position of power to help install his son as ruler of Florence (Alexander VI), and “pope” Julius II, known as the “Warrior Pope,” who was bent on conquering more of the Italian peninsula for his own territory, and lavishly funded such structures as the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome with indulgence money obtained throughout Europe.

Martin Luther’s nailing of the ninety-five theses on the door in Wittenberg began the Reformation, after which ensued bloody conflict for the next century. Much blood was shed throughout Europe due to this division. While no attempt is being made to exonerate the Protestants from the blood that they shed, the actions of the Roman Catholic church to suppress this division did not conform to the pattern established by the First Vatican Council.

There are many, however, who will strive to entirely exonerate the Roman Catholic organization from any of this and will attempt to pin the blame on the secular authorities of the day. Historically, such is a desperate attempt to use a technicality to distort reality: while secular authorities had much to do with the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition, it is not as if Rome was unaware of what was going on. Such events occurred with the approval of the Roman Catholic authorities and oftentimes were encouraged by them. Attempting to shift the blame does not change the reality of the matter.

** the secular "authorities" were ...Catholic! duh!
