I thought the power of Christ was enough...Regina says no. It is no longer I who lives but Christ lives through me and that is why it is no longer a struggle.
Leave it all at the cross Regina. When we try to do things on our own we'll fail everytime.
"Leave it all at the cross Regina. When we try to do things on our own we'll fail everytime."

I couldn't agree with you more, Charles. That's very Catholic of you!

However, if you drink again, you'll be in trouble. You know it and I know it. Christ did not remove that from you. What He does do, if you let Him, is help you to not take another drink. To live with this particular cross in a way that is beneficial to you and not bring you harm, i.e. not drink. Therein lies the difference. I wish you well, Charles.

People who drink in front of children have no clue of the risk they are taking. Look at teenage drinking in this country. I know there are different circumstances for teens to start drinking but alot is from seeing it in their own families.
truly sad...
100% truth.I for one believe that as a believer alcoholic beverages have no place in my home, and never did, both my son and daughter to this day do not dring, and they are in their thirties, happy, have careers, not married yet? Praying on that end if it is the Lord's will soon in their lives.

We as believers have to set the standard, even if the world does not.

<quoted text>Thank you KayMarie, but even in and especially in so called(Full Gospel) churches Communion is an added feature, not given the reverance and sacrdness it deserves. But i am determined to remain with the Lord,as many in these times will fall away, including those who claim every spiritual gift under the sun.We are seeing the beginning of the falling away in our churches, and all around us.It is a warning not to let our hearts and minds to join into the pollution of relativism, and free market Christianity.
We believers are WARNED,and it is to us that the Word states that there will be a great falling away. The non-Christians do not have to be warned, although many of them may come to faith realizing their own emptiness and shallowness of life. But we believers are in greater peril,as the LORD warns us no others that many of us WILL fall away. I believe all who love and serve Him face this challenge regardless of AFFILIATION>.
Pad good friend
God's grace to you....

I hear your concern for the Church.

It is faced with relativism, modernism, and the false light of earthly wealth....It seems the later is of more immediate concern, as technology abounds to divert our true need of the virtue of religion....

It is such a neglected word, a despised word, an object of derision in our culture, but religion is actully a virtue. It is the adoration, prayer, and sacrices made, which are religion. To the neglect of religion one does not do these things, and that is this great apostasy we see. This age is oriented toward the flesh, and the mind, keeping them distracted from true religion....

Fiscal Cliff Crisis:

There is no reason to believe swearing President, Governor, Representatives of US the Government, County Commissioners, Township Trustees, Mayors, City Council, School Administrators and Board Members into office. That swears under oath to defend every American Citizen from foreign and domestic aggression.

That defies USA Labor Law, The Constitution, and demands of Natural Law: what Mother Nature, God, or Whatever Power decreed to be the reality of the real world, democracy, capitalism, the US Constitution, and free, fair, and affordable commerce and common sense demands.

Demanding every Stockholder, corporation, farmer, business, outsourcer sweatshop, and nonprofit, tax-exempt, organization and Church; markets the cost in the wholesale and retail price of his or her product and service; of every worker, consumer, and taxpayer's wages (union contract), healthcare, pension, investment and independent business profit.

This enables every worker, consumer, and taxpayer to pay healthcare insurance premium or pay healthcare provider. Pay ALL taxes and pay for every product and service they use for life. With money derived from wages, investment profit, and independent business profit.

And enables every parent to educate, love, nurse, nurture, discipline, protect, and provide; for every child (job) they conceive. And fund schools, infrastructure, local and national security, government services, and etc.; with money derived from wages, investment profit, and independent business profit.

President and Elected Officials hold Union workers, consumers, taxpayers, and America’s grandchildren’s children, Government employees, Parents, Teachers, Veterans, Police, Firemen, and Fathers disqualified for affirmative action with white skin, Representatives deny Collective Bargaining Rights accountable.

To fund Illegal drug users and Immigrants, lottery, casino, and keno losers, unemployed Union workers replaced with nonunion workers, Human Traffickers, waitresses that pander for life for $2.00 per hour, slaves in tax abated enterprise zones, low-income child labor, consumers, and taxpayers, volunteers without wages, and nonunion workers willing to work for fewer wages than they can afford life. That pays with welfare checks, food stamps, housing vouchers, and Medicaid.

Pay for all stimulus packages, tax abatements, tax incentives, tax refunds, tax credit, and tax exemptions.

Pay sales tax on the more stock dividends (money) OPEC Nations, Enron Stockholders, Wal-Mart Stockholders, Hillarys, Chinese, Foreign and Domestic Investors and Stockholders (money marketers) market quarterly. In the wholesale and retail price of every product and service Human Beings use for life. And School Boards and Government needs to build, maintain and operate schools, infrastructure, and provide local and national security, and Government services. That gets only product or service.

Needed to measure and maintain the strength and growth of this UNAFFORDABLE economy and distribute money Human Beings cannot digest, burn in internal combustion engines, or burn to heat and cool their American Dream. Into OPEC Nations, Enron Stockholders, Wal-Mart Stockholders, Hillarys, Chinese, Foreign and Domestic Investors and Stockholders portfolios.

Defying USA Labor Law, the Constitution, and Realities demands makes it IMPOSSIBLE for President Obama and Congress to avoid fiscal cliff and balance every budget. Makes free, fair, and affordable commerce IMPOSSIBLE; Makes funding schools IMPOSSIBLE; Makes balancing every budget IMPOSSIBLE; Makes Union workers, consumers, taxpayers, and Americas grandchildren's children life UNAFFORDABLE; and created Ohio’s $1.35 trillion budget deficit, the $40 trillion social security and the $16 trillion national debt.

America’s grandchildren’s children cannot afford life and pay this debt with the $7.25 per hour Government mandated labor wage in a hundred million years.

And you underestimate the power of God Regina, where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. Those who are free in Jesus is free indeed.
Those who never had a drink before could become and alcoholic from taking just one glass of beer.
Stop telling Chuck what he is, and start telling him what Jesus said he is in Christ Jesus.
Born again means, "OLD THINGS PAST AWAY AND EVERYTHING BECOMES BRAND NEW".
Are you saying that it's now okay for him to drink? God is more realistic than that. He provides the means...the people, the wisdom, the grace...to help alcoholics deal with their disease. But they still have the disease. Do not tempt the Lord.

Its obvious you are still using your same old TEMPLATE of dribble you say everytime you post.
Haven't you got any new material.(lol)
The historical and biblical "truth" of Jesus Christs One True Catholic Church--remains the same therefore, there is no need to post any new "truths"--just like the same old distortions, misrepresentations and twisted anti-catholic comments from you, Confrinting, Orville, 4GVN, justachristian1 juethro8, etc. ALSO remain the same!!---Again--- Look in the mirror Michael and you will see where the judgments, condemnation and hate-filled attacks against the Catholic Church, come from.... You will also see where the "perverted distorted hate" comes from-where they begin--and where they are initiated, created, and produced --by people such as you, along with other agnostics, atheists and bible only believers who are living in a world of anti-catholic hate and hostility, which is about "the only thing" that they "have going for themselves!!!

I believe in handups not handouts.

.........Below, does this sound like an organization that needs more money sent to Rome from collection baskets all around the world?

http://ncronline.org/news/accountability/milw...

Does this make sense?

..Every year, for decades! the US government has SUBSIDIZED farmers around the country to bring in millions of MIGRANT workers from 2,000 miles away central/south america, to plant and harvest our crops in the USA, while the government also SUBSIDIZES MILLIONS of abled bodied men/women americans who sit at home complaining they can't find work, or don't want to work.

Does that make sense to you?

Anything coming from ncr online can never be trusted.
They are idealist who spread slander, propaganda, and lies to undermine the Catholic Church while masquerading as Catholics.
I'm surprised you'd even cite them as a reliable source. Oh wait, I'm not surprised at all. That's what you do for a hobby.

You assume to much.

You have never met me, or Father Dye or Free Mind. If we all wore street clothes and stood in a line you wouldn't know which one of us was Father Dye, me or Free Mind.

How can you judge someone, without knowing someone? Just because you WANT Father Dye to be squeeky clean doesn't mean he is..........I'm just saying!

When you try to live your life by keeping man made rules you will never experience the grace of God.

Alcoholism is not a disease Regina....it's a choice one has made. If you call it a disease like the rest of the world, there is no accountability for the individual.

As far as drinking goes, yes, he is. He's not a puppet. If he doesn't cooperate with the help God provides for him, he's sunk.
God doesn't grow back the leg of an amputee. He does, however, provide a prothesis and physical therapists to teach the person to walk again. If they refuse the help, they're wheel-chair bound for life.

Now maybe he drank to self-medicate and has overcome his emotional/mental problems to the degree that he no longer desires to drink. But what if a tragedy occurs in his life and he falls into despair again? Or maybe God performed a miracle and removed the alcoholism from his body. Do you really want to be responsible for his finding out? Stop enabling him. You're thwarting God's work.

The Americas....

Societies founded on Roman Catholic values = more crime - more poverty - less education - lesser system of justice.

God has spoken. Any questions?

<quoted text>No, of course not. The wider picture you bring out,but the focus on the Pope himself as the instigator of that perpetual siphoning into the coffers of the Vatican is wrong,he is a subject to,just as every Catholic who serves the RCC.It seems that similar opinions could be said of all the affiliations.
The Vatican is financially solvent to many sources who view it,but I wonder often that maybe things are not so strong in that way,as many assests cannot be broken down to aid as you say the local parish. And to my knowledge over the years,I have seen priests and parishes,to the local church on so and so street,a saving financial boost from the Vatican that brought them out of the red.
The Scandal of you know what, brought many parishes to their knees.and it is unlikely that the RCC as a whole will be able to pay every victim the millions many have already received bankrupting parishes. No doubt much of the money you seem to think just that local church is forking over,is in truth coming from the Vatican or the whole diocese as well in a particular state, region or province.
We do not know the extent of how the Diocese works ,and the local parish priest often has to ask the Diocese for help, and they give it,but the local priest has to be able to pay his own bills as well.Prot and evangelical churches often have financial distresses, and they do get help from many sources, but basically are quite autonomous. Each Assembly here in my city must fend for themselves,we never hear of the Assembly of God on the other side of our city giving money to ours to pay their bills, and vice versa.
Pad........show me your sources of information where money came from ROME or the VATICAN bank to cover costs of sexual abuse claims in dioceses around the world, not covered by insurance?

ZZEERROO!

So much for charity work, leaving churches/dioceses to fend for themselves, while the vatican has billions in investments not counting priceless paintings/statues stored away collecting dust that could be auctioned off to bring money relief for those that need it. NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN........its all theirs and no one is going to have any of it.

All 195 dioceses in america should be helping each other when help is needed. If not, what example are they showing the rest of us to be generous with our resources?

Are you OK with that?
