Read the entire article there about him then I dare you to equate this mere man with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
You are a catholic because just by CHANCE you were born into a catholic family. God didn't choose you to be catholic no more than he chose my neighbor to be jewish.

If you were born into a loving Muslim family and was taught and worshipped Islam, do you honestly believe you would find your way back to your present belief? Not likely.

Every religion claims they are the true belief. Not one religion today can verify with any certainty that God even exists. You go by what you were taught by your family and your family like all families has no special knowledge either. Hand me down family tradition.

Its only a belief.

You won't talk so high and mighty when you meet your Creator, Michael. Your arrogance is going to be taken down a notch or two.
There you go again with "I am better than you nonsense".

Your religion teaches you to fear being different. You fear being an independant thinker as what we are taught in school we should be. Your life is NOT on your terms, you give up your own self esteem and unable to manage your thought process without first getting persmission from your belief. Your church teaches you that you are a sinner, you are unworthy, you are unclean.

You are afraid and unwilling to assume total responsibility for your life and actions, you are a perfect match for organized relgion.

Truth good friend

Yes. Jesus did have the Authority.

I think the point is here that the thief was repentent. And he accepted Jesus as blameless, that they both were going to die, and wanted to be remembered when Jesus came into His Kingdom....

This is the the essence of Christian belief, in Jesus Christ as our salvation.

Michael says. BHOOGHA! BHOOGHA! lol!

Submitting to one belief, will suffocate you and make you lash out like you do to me. Its sad when I see people submit their own free will to something that can't even verify exists.

Leave the mythology behind, and learn to think for yourself for just once!. Your own intellect is a better tool of spiritual growth than any religious teachings.

The worst mistake you can make is to attach your IDENTITY to any particular religion or philosophy. Saying I am a christian I am a Jew, I am a Buddhist. This forces your mind into a set perspective robbing you of spiritual depth and confuses your ability to perecive reality as the way it is.

One belief will suffocate yourself and lash out like you do to me. Its sad when I see people submit their own free will to something that can't even verify exists.

Christians claim God is an ALL loving God.........you shouldn't fiddle with that.

The only sin that we were taught that we should have any worries with are mortal sin. Mortal sin consists of breaking the 10 commandments.

Well, I haven't coveted my neighbors wife lately so I am clear of that sin........can't think of any others. lol!

The catholic posters are mad because they claim they are sinners and I claim I can't think of anything I have done wrong that warrants mentioning as a sin. Maybe that is why I haven't been to confession in 14 years. Must be a record!

The apostle might well say there were many, since in his time were the followers of Simon Magus, the Menandrians, Saturnilians, Basilidians, Nicolaites, Gnostics, Carpocratians, Cerinthians, Ebionites, and Nazarenes, as reckoned up by Epiphanius. And hence we learn, that antichrist is not one single individual, but many; antichrist in the former clause is explained by antichrists in this; see 1 John 2:22;
and in the next few verses , the "emphasis " is on anti christs, which proving that John was and is talking about those antichrists,
not pseudo, might have been christians.
OSAs is false and can not be proven by the bible as being a biblical truth.
if OSAS is Biblical , then why must God {warn} us not to sin and if we do sin, then we must REPENT
preston

Here is the way I see it..., when a Jew breaks one of the Laws of Moses, they have recourse(repentence and sacrifice), but may not do it. For this reason they perish. The same is true of the Christian. If a Christian sins, they have recourse(repentence and sacrifice), but may not do it. They perish.

When one does not abide with Christ, they go their own way, and that makes them an anti-Christ....It is when one does not keep repentence and sacrifice they go astray.

Today, there are Jews who don't believe in God. That makes them anti-Jews. Similarly we have anti-Christs among Christians.

In the end God will seperate them out. In the meantime, we need to be aware, and understand, then choose the good, which is of God. In former times, the shift came from calling people anti-Christs, to calling them heretics....

Now I know why so many christians are sinners.

Exodus 20:1-17

Remember the sabbath day. Seventh day is the sabbath to the lord one shall not do any work.

Exodus does not say down the road in 325 AD the sabbath will be changed to the first day of the week. Can't find it!

How many christians celebrate the seventh day of the week as the sabbath. Saturday. How many christians do not always rest on that day but have done some form of work? LOTS!......another sin.

I always rest on saturday and sunday too, just to cover all my bases.

We don't even have to bring OSAS into the picture for that one. Satan tempts people because IF they fall for it, and do wrong:

(1)They shame God before people.
(2)They hurt others.
(3)They bring pain and/or death upon themselves.

If Christ performed the miracles the new testament describes, if he fed exactly 5,000 people from a few crumbs and a piece of fish, if he made a blind man see and lets not forget the other 35 miracles that are in the new testament, why a very short time later, would the people want him crucified? Why would a civilized people for the jews from that era were civilized were so filled with hate towards a kind and loving mand who only went about doing good and preached forgiveness (as only the scriptures claim) that the jews would not be appeased until they crucified the noblest benefactor of mankind?

Thousands of jews miraclized, and thousands more witnessed these great gifts, and tens of thousands followed this man around and watched him speak (only the scriptures claim) yet at the crucifixion no one showed up to support him?

Hey Chuck, we all disagree on everything. In 300 thousand posts, I don't think anything has been accomplished.
OSAS is picked as a topic a lot, probably because its so easy to debunk. And also, because its a scary and dangerous approach to Christianity. Therefore, it needs to be tackled head on. Many many souls have been lost, thinking they were saved, because you all instilled in them a doctrine that washed their hands of wrong doing.
What did Tupac Shakur mom say at his funeral? It was something like, "my baby is with Jesus now. He is in a better place."
Really? Nothing in his life had anything to do with Christ. He may have said "I would like to thank God" at the Grammy awards. It doesn't mean nothing.
He's just an example of countless other people who were given false hope by this false doctrine.

Now, can't you see why the devil would love OSAS so much. He's got you right where he wants you.

That holds Union workers, consumers, taxpayers, and America’s grandchildren’s children, Government employees, Parents, Teachers, Veterans, Police, Firemen, and Fathers disqualified for affirmative action with white skin, Representatives deny Collective Bargaining Rights accountable.

To fund Illegal drug users and Immigrants, lottery, casino, and keno losers, unemployed Union workers replaced with nonunion workers, Human Traffickers, waitresses that pander for life for $2.00 per hour, slaves in enterprise zones, low-income child labor, consumers, and taxpayers, volunteers without wages, and nonunion workers willing to work for fewer wages than they can afford life. That pays with welfare checks, food stamps, housing vouchers, and Medicaid.

Pay for all stimulus packages, tax abatements, tax incentives, tax refunds, tax credit, and tax exemptions.

Pay sales tax on the more stock dividends (money) OPEC Nations, Enron Stockholders, Wal-Mart Stockholders, Hillarys, Chinese, Foreign and Domestic Investors and Stockholders (money marketers) market quarterly. In the wholesale and retail price of every product and service Human Beings use for life. And School Boards and Government needs to build, maintain and operate schools, infrastructure, and provide local and national security, and Government services. That gets only product or service.

Needed to measure and maintain the strength and growth of this UNAFFORDABLE economy and distribute money Human Beings cannot digest, burn in internal combustion engines, or burn to heat and cool their American Dream. Into OPEC Nations, Enron Stockholders, Wal-Mart Stockholders, Hillarys, Chinese, Foreign and Domestic Investors and Stockholders portfolios.

USA Labor Law, The Constitution, and demands of Natural Law: what Mother Nature, God, or Whatever Power decreed to be the reality of the real world, democracy, capitalism, the US Constitution, and free, fair, and affordable commerce and common sense demands.

Demands every Stockholder, corporation, farmer, business, outsourcer sweatshop, and nonprofit, tax-exempt, organization and Church; markets the cost in the wholesale and retail price of his or her product and service; of every worker, consumer, and taxpayer's wages (union contract), healthcare, pension, investment and independent business profit.

This enables every worker, consumer, and taxpayer to pay healthcare insurance premium or pay healthcare provider. Pay ALL taxes and pay for every product and service they use for life. With money derived from wages, investment profit, and independent business profit.

And enables every parent to educate, love, nurse, nurture, discipline, protect, and provide; for every child (job) they conceive. Defying USA Labor Law, the Constitution, and Realities demands is bankrupting USA. Baptism doesn't guarantee salvation. No, I don't think the bad popes, if they died unrepentent, are in heaven. Many self-described 'born again' and 'saved' evangelicals are ungodly and unchristian. That's why belief in OSAS is so dangerous.

**********

This is why that GOD is the judge. He knows the sheep from the wolves, regardless of the denomination they are in.

It is also why that WE should be Christians FIRST, and not be divided over whatever 'denomination' we are in. As one founding father of America declared: If we don't 'hang together', we will "HANG" separately.

The devil is anxious to hang us all...

Can you imagine how this must have shaken thier faith? But according to the scriptues he was never converted.
4GVN good friend

I don't think we can understand exactly what was going through Judas' heart and mind....

Yes I agree with you that many so-called Christians are in name only, and haven't been on a path of conversion in their hearts. Some, have little desire to tread the path, they fear it is to difficult in this world, and are easily swayed, even betray Christianity.

I think Judas might have been trying (in his mind) to reconcile Judaism and the Messiah, the cost was 30 pieces of silver and his "betrayal" represents for us those willing to be called Christians, but in the end have buyers regret. Judas desiring to give back the money to the Temple, and breaking the "betrayal", but it was to late....regret.

Judas on a deeper level, when he began to understand what he had done, Judas' in his heart, I think this is where the regret comes in, compounded by guilt, and eventually drove him to his death.

It is just a view. It must be considered whether Judas was betraying Jesus because of the truth, and or the goodness, and his perception of it at the time.

How can you be so sure the reliability of the accounts from the ancient historians? Most of them never provided sources to what their claims were, as we have very few bibligraphic listings to support such claims.

If the gospel writers were inspired by God to record these documents, and lets not forget the dozens of other scriptures written at that time also claiming to be inspired by God, were somehow decided not to be accurate or true, as the early catholic fathers threw out what they didn't want and re-wrote what God had inspired originally in the 4 gospels, inspiring them for a second time with their own spin.

You are not a puppet. Self-described 'saved' evangelicals are not being guided and directed by the Holy Spirit to commit mortal sin, but they do it anyway. Jesus will forgive us if we repent, but we can choose not to. We are not OSAS.

**********

The Holy Spirit guides no one to commit any sort of 'sin'. If we follow Him, He will lead us to godliness. Because of our flesh, we may fall into temptation, but He is able to cleanse us, and lead us out.

We may also sin because of ignorance...but the Holy Spirit will 'reprove' us, and continue to teach us...IF we remain pliable in His hands.

The prophet was led to the potters house, where he observed the potter reshaping a vessel that was imperfect. He was taken there that he...AND WE...might understand that God is working to perfect us, and HE knows how to do it.
