There you have KM and marge, the different interpretations.
Too much conflict between you protestant.
“Catholics believe that faith AND good works are both necessary for salvation, because such is the teaching of Jesus Christ. What Our Lord demands is "faith that worketh by charity ." (Gal. 5 :6). Read Matthew 25:31-46, which describes the Last Judgment as being based on works of charity. The first and greatest commandment, as given by Our Lord Himself, is to love the Lord God with all one's heart, mind, soul, and strength; and the second great commandment is to love one's neighbor as oneself.(Mark 12:30-31). When the rich young man asked Our Lord what he must do to gain eternal life, Our Lord answered: "Keep the commandments." (Matt. 19:17). Thus, although faith is the beginning, it is not the complete fulfillment of the will of God. Nowhere in the Bible is it written that faith alone justifies. When St. Paul wrote, "For we account a man to be justified by faith, without the works of the law," he was referring to works peculiar to the old Jewish Law, and he cited circumcision as an example.
The Catholic Church does NOT teach that purely human good works are meritorious for salvation; such works are NOT meritorious for salvation, according to her teaching. Only those good works performed when a person is in the state of grace – that is, as a branch drawing its spiritual life from the Vine which is Christ (John 15:4-6)– only these good deeds work toward our salvation, and they do so only by the grace of God and the merit of Jesus Christ. These good works, offered to God by a soul in the state of grace (i.e., free of mortal sin, with the Blessed Trinity dwelling in the soul), are thereby “
**********
And where do you see conflict between myself and Marge? Scripture says repeatedly that 'the just shall live by his faith'. You could do a mountain of 'works'(charity), but find no favor with God, for, "without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please Him." But if one is born again by faith, he/she will do good works, which will prove the love of God (charity=love) to be in him/her.
What we call 'charity' is an act for the poor, and gains us nothing alone. Gal.5:6 says that faith works by LOVE (charity), the LOVE OF GOD that is in us because HE is in us.

In other words, I won't have men tell me what I am to believe, as you have, and as Christianity has done.
What? Are you saying Muah, Clay, has no free will to make up his own mind on what to believe?
Eh New Age, I examined many sides already. I trust wholeheartedly in Jesus Christ and know that whatever Church He started, is being guided on truth. Unfortunately for all non-catholics on this forum, that Church happens to be the Catholic Church.
In a way, to deny this truth is to lack faith in the Christ. To deny this truth is to believe Christ was lying when He promised to be with them til the end.

I have never demeaned Mary...and know that she is blessed of God. When a woman declared Mary's womb and her breasts to be blessed, Jesus said that: "Blessed RATHER are those who hear the Word of God and keep/do it."
It is NEVER an insult to Jesus Christ to honor Him above ALL flesh.
Catholics insist that they do not worship Mary...but also insist upon honoring her as God's mother! You don't, but you do...
KayMarie
Kay: Catholics worship Mary.

Catholics: No Kay, that is ridiculous. All worship is to God and God alone.

Kay: You say you don't worship her but you do.

Catholics: We ask her to pray for us; we honor her and treat her exactly like Christ did. We imitate Christ by the honor given to His Mom.

Kay: what you are doing is worshiping her

Catholics: We understand that Mary's role is to bring people to her Son. This is not worship. We only worship God.

Kay: You call Mary the Mother of God.

Catholics: Yes, Jesus and God are one in the same. Therefore Mother of God is a very appropiate title.

Kay: That means you worship her.

Catholics: No, we would never worship Mary. Worship is for God alone.

Kay: I'm telling you and I am telling everybody that Catholics worship Mary.

Catholics: Then you are baring false witness and need to examine your actions prior to coming face to face with Jesus Christ someday.

Eph 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and not of yourself it is a gift from God ;not a result of works less any man should boost.
verse 10 For we are 'HIS' WORKMENSHIP CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS FOR GOOD WORKS , WHICH GOD PREPARED BEFOREHAND, THAT WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM.

The fact is, no evidence of Mary having other children is in the Bible. If you cite 'Brother' and 'Sister' as evidence, you are going against the Bible by using modern language to reverse original meanings of words. This is a grave sin.

There are no myths about Mary, Confrint.

The only 'myth' is that sola scripture is a false teaching.

Why would you think everything about Mary needs to be spelled out in the books that make up the Bible?

I'd say you reek of Bible worship, and the Bible, is in fact, your god.

"but its the word of God"

How do you know? Who told you that? Where in the Bible does it say the 27 books in the NT are the word of God? Mine doesn't have a table of contents telling me which books should be labeled as such, does yours?

Don't run off Pastor, answer these questions truthfully or get lost.

Correction: "The only Myth is that sola scripture is a VALID teaching".

Eh Gif, Sola Scripture didn't appear until the 16th century (when the printed bible came to be)?

What do you think of that?

Are you going to deny this fact?

of course you are, because your whole ministry will come crumbling down, and you'll have to face Christ with this new info. So you think its better to simply ignore it as if that will wash your hands.

Jesus said that the truth will set us free.(John 8:32) However, He did not say that the truth would necessarily be easy to accept. It was painful for me to learn the information that I am about to share with you, but it was also liberating and it led to a closer relationship with God.
As a faithful Catholic, and later as a nun, I practiced Mary worship for many years without realizing it. The prayers and practices were so familiar. They were taught to me by good people, sincere people that I trusted. I prayed rosaries and wore a scapular and engaged in other “devotions” which I honestly thought were good and pleasing to God. Because of my lack of knowledge of the Bible and of Church history, I HONESTLY HAD NO IDEA THAT I WAS ACTUALLY WORSHIPPING MARY.(MY EMPHASIS)
If modern Catholic teachings and doctrines about Mary are true, then they will not be contrary to Scripture, the writings of the Early Fathers, or the decrees of past popes. For a devout Catholic to question these issues and put them to the test can be painful. It certainly was for me. However, it would be far more painful to have God correct us when we face Him on Judgment Day.

The emphasis is mine. Like I said, you say that you don't...but you do!

Oh, no! Not Mary Ann Collins again! We settled this about a year or two ago. There is no "Mary Ann Collins". She's a figment of some anti-Catholic bigot's imagination who thinks all nuns are Irish...lol! Do you believe everything you read on the internet? In that case, I have some great beach front property in Arizona I'll sell you cheap. A special discount just for you!

She's not even real. "Mary Ann Collins"? Give me a break! What a generic Irish Catholic name! LOL!!

Yep, I'm in NJ, right on the coast! We're going to get slaughtered! We lucked out last year, at least where I live. But don't think we're going to get away with it this time around. We'll probably be without power for days. As long as no windows blow out or trees fall on the house, we'll be okay. Thank you for the good wishes, we're going to need them!

Clay you missed the point, the words she was told to say in prayers and devotions, rosery, etc, were worship words toward Mary!
