Atheism requires as much faith as religion? bearvspuma : The only problem with this rationalization is that ita s assuming all athiests are so because theya re intelligent in the ways of science and reasoning and all people that believe in a form of god are unintelligent.

<quoted text>I expect gods to -- as a BARE MINIMUM -- be AT LEAST as moral as mortal humans are.

Is this the case?

Nope.

Human parents would do **anything** to preserve the lives of their children.

Is this the case with your god?

Nope-- he allows people--- babies-- to die every day.

HE DOES NOTHING.

As if he wasn't even there at all...!

But if your god IS THERE?

HE IS LESS MORAL THAN MERE HUMAN PARENTS.
So if your child was a serial killer, you would seek to save its life no matter how many people it killed?

<quoted text>Flat lie: I would cheerfully accept PROOF that a god or gods are real.

Seriously.

BUT YOU DO NOT EVEN TRY AT ALL.

I would **love** for there to be a benevolent deity watching over humanity.

But there is NO FACTS that support that idea.

None at all.
There is plenty of evidence.

It is your reasoning that precludes the evidence because it has a pre commitment to do so.

Is your reasoning infallible?

<quoted text>Your question is meaningless in this context.

Do you have proof your god is real or not?

If not?

The **default** is that your god is NOT real.
Why is that the default?

See, your reasoning is faulty...

It has taken a position it cannot justify logically...

<quoted text>Lie:

If the restored limb could **only** have been due to a GOD, intervening?

That is: someone loses an arm, then someone prays, then the arm grows back?

THAT WOULD PROVE THE PRAYER WORKED, and would suggest the god was real.

CAN YOU DO IT?

CAN YOUR GOD RE-GROW AN ARM?

No?

Interesting.
My God can give you a new heart tomorrow.

Your god?

DOES NOT MEASURE UP TO EVEN MORTAL HUMAN STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR.

Seriously: your god is a monster, by which all others pale in comparison.

IF.

If your god is actually real.
What moral standard are you using to judge Him?

<quoted text>No.

Because a self-professed GOD REPRESENTATIVE, lied.

And the god in question did not STOP the lie.

That **IS** proof of no god.
So because there is free will, God cannot exist?

<quoted text>I've never read your atheist book. Who wrote it? It sounds interesting.

But I **have** read the bible, cover-to-cover, 100's of times.

How on **earth** do you think I lost all my faith in gods?

By reading the **bible** of course.

:)
So explain how the bible explicitly predicts the exact point in time if Christ's death.

If your claim is true, you will be able to do that with ease.

Atheism is not a religion or an organisation, its merely the conclusion after all the religious liars in the world have been exposed by hard science.

This is why atheists don't own whole hospitals.

Atheism is not a reason to care about other people. Atheists do care about other people, but their atheism is not the reason why they do it.

If you like, atheists have higher morals - they don't need childish religious stories to make them behave. They do it anyway.

Atheists find the world scary when the only thing between murder and a christian is an imaginary god and a dying cult that builds buildings every 30 minutes from each other with gigantic crosses on top of them (and lightening conductors).

Atheism is a position that claims a truth.

This pretended neutrality fools no one.

You are pre committed to deny God with no rational reason for doing so.

In a world without God you have no objective basis to judge ancient cultures in far away places. You are simply making a claim which carries no more weight than you opinion. I do not think you understand the consequences of your atheistic assumptions.
owning another human being under ANY circumstance is wrong, period.
Why?
If you can rationalize slavery as NOT being wrong at any time, then you are as immoral as your God who promotes slavery.
If God promotes slavery then why did God liberate the Israelites from Egyptian slavery? Under what objective basis do you judge God as immoral? Do you even know what i am asking you? Do you judge the tooth fairy as immoral? Do you blame the tooth fairy for cavities?
It would appear that I know more about your holy book than you and most Christians do.
You do toot your own horn. I think you are simply attempting to provoke. Do you think attacking validates your atheism?

Your position is found in the scripture yes. I was speaking of my personal relationship with god from my past. It doesn't offend me... I only know what my experience holds. If you want to say my relationship with god was non-existent from the very beginning of my religious practice because of something that I did wrong then that's fine, but I disagree, and understand that I followed as I should.

When you look at the bible for what it is, there is no doubt that it is simply a book of fiction... no doubt full of things that are good and bad and also lessons that you can learn from it, but that makes it no more important that any of the millions of self help books or best sellers that line the shelves of book stores. If the bible was written by the inspiration of "god" then there should be no interpretations of it, it would be the "word" and that's it. Too many contradictions and way to many claims that simply are impossible or have been proven to be impossible.
