Atheism requires as much faith as religion? bearvspuma : The only problem with this rationalization is that ita s assuming all athiests are so because theya re intelligent in the ways of science and reasoning and all people that believe in a form of god are unintelligent.

Yes. The speed of light in water is about 75% of the speed of light in a vacuum.
Yah, I just read back.

I totally misinterpreted something.

Or effed up. Or something.

Hehehe.

Yes, in a vacuum it's fixed.
And underwater it's fixed.
And through paper it's fixed.
But it isn't simply "fixed".
The speed of light has many variables.
Huh.

That's three times you say it's "fixed". And that's right.

You do understand the concept of "through a medium", right?

It doesn't mean Madame Marie's Psychic Palm Reading Emporium.

Sorry about your luck, chuck. The goal posts are fixed, unlike the speed of light.
The speed of light is independent of the motion of the observer.
The speed of light does not vary with time or place.
You don't even understand what you posted... not in the least.

Your last two statements directly contradict your opening statement.

So Dave we have all noticed your comments against equal rights for gay couples and even your bigotry towards them.

Well what do you know? Secular humanism rears it's superstition crushing head in favor of equal rights for all! Even republicans getting on board for equal rights and even gay marriage!

http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/15/politics/portma...

Even Sarah Palin is saying the GOP needs to broaden it's message!

http://news.msn.com/politics/sarah-palin-urge...

These ultra religious bastions of faith are spitting in the eyes of the faithful. All the god bleating just can't hold back secular humanism.

Choke on it.

All you can know of the universe is derived from one observation point, Earth, and detecting energy we are capable of detecting, AS IT IMPACTS US NOW. Such also led to the BBT. Those observations put us in a material container, which we call the universe.
Your belief such can tell you so much about the universe, and beyond is not "scientific", it is religion.

But it could simply be changing shape quicker and quicker. It doesn't mean it is moving away further, cherrypicker.

Yes expansion is changing shape, We know space is expanding for a simple conclusive reason that cannot be denied.
It's larger than it should be , starlight that has been traveling 13.7 billion years, is coming from stars 46 billion light years away. Hence the redshift is showing the expansion because it should only be 13.7 billion light years away. Beyond this radius light from anything has not reached here yet.

To understand it fully watch this amazing video.

Don't distort the facts , I worship nothing but loathe willful ignorance. My science hero's are likely the same as any man who is on the quest to knowledge. Some people in topix seem to be trained to
reject knowledge, those who express the truths in science simply..
have my respect.

No, the object simply can't go faster with more speed, idiot!
Mass = speed. More mass, more speed.
Speed does not equal mass. Speed does not create the mass.
Why are you on topix all day? Not very professional for your type of occupation to have so much free time.
Well look at it this way. I could throw a 45 bullet at you , striking you in the chest at 60 fps and it would carry 10 foot lbs of force. You will not be happy with the bruise but you will be very happy that.

I didn't fire it from a 45/70 rifle which would propel the bullet to 1600 fps and carry 1700 ft lbs of energy both knocking you down
and blowing a huge hole in your torso. Which incidentally would be nearly the same as the weight of a small car. So yes an increase in velocity is the same as an increase in mass.

Why do you think small rocks make such huge craters on the moon and Earth?
