Atheism requires as much faith as religion? bearvspuma : The only problem with this rationalization is that ita s assuming all athiests are so because theya re intelligent in the ways of science and reasoning and all people that believe in a form of god are unintelligent.

"I just finished the book "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. Among the topics are one on Christopher Langan who has an IQ of 195, which is supposed to be the highest in the world. After finishing the chapter I googled him, and found out that he has been studying physics on his own for pretty much his entire life but only went to college for one year.
What interested me was that he has been working on something that he calls "Cognitive-Theoretic Model of the Universe". While I don´t understand much of it (few does) I was surprised to see that he actually believes in God. Not only that, he claims that it is possible to mathematically prove that God exists and that we have a soul. At first glance I was amazed of this, since I´m a complete atheist (and swedish - none of use are believers). But I can´t help thinking that, since his mind are more powerful than anyone else´s, maybe he has seen further than anyone ever have. This scares me a little bit, b/c obv if he is correct I really don´t want to die for obvious reasons "
High intelligence is a great thing if it doesn't let it's self get tangled in knots.

IQ levels are exponential. Look at them as a vertical ladder. Each step up and you see more than just that step up. 100 100 IQ's can't see what a 130 can see on an individual basis. However, they can put things together better in many cases because of those knots one can get from seeing so much and trying to process it.

Just try to wipe you mind clean of preconceived notions and indoctrination, Read his stuff, try to grasp his logic, and if it makes sense to you, then it is likely correct. If not, it gives you an expanded platform for your logic to work from. Yours is what counts, as it is your ass that pays the price.

I know its difficult for you to understand the quest for the finer things in life. You are completely content to remain a member of the herd, believing that popularity among the common folk equals excellence. Continue to view your painting by numbers collection, drinking your Boon's Farm Apple wine, and listening to pukebucket, I'll continue to elevate myself above the herd trough beauty and complexity.

According to you, absolute truth = god.

Since there is no god, there is no absolute truth according to your definition.

There is no god, huh?

hmmm....

Did you deduce this using some top secret god testing machine?

You cannot know anything absolutely unless you know everything.

You are an atheist and cannot, according to your worldview, have access to knowledge that allows you to account for anything.

Christians can know truths absolutely, because they accept the revelation of those truths from the one who does know everything.

But here is the kicker:

You do in fact, know much more than your atheism can account for.

You recognise absolutes, because you use them all the time.

You also know where they lead a person, so when it starts leading you to the place you cannot go, you have to deny absolutes.

That absurdity, of using absolutes and denying absolutes, reveals your worldview is actually nothing more than a desperate attempt to suppress the truth.

The Truth as revealed in the person of Jesus Christ...

You just don't like the truth, so you have to deny it...

GODDIDIT?

If she did she really made a serious mess of things.

Poor God had to kill off her entire 1st attempt at creation save a 900 year old man and his family of clever carpenters and boat builders.

Then instead of at least tossing them a nail or two, he leaves them to complete the boat thus not being able to account for those pesky marsupials and a host of other life unknown to God at the time.

You see... God was the 1st creator of Alzheimers and also the very 1st victim of his disease.

10 important questions to be asked by any rational person as a guide to the question of whether or not there is a Christian God.

1. If logic is the hallmark that separates man from beast, why is religion then a matter of faith, rather than rationality?

2. If something cannot be proved, then why do people continue to believe in it?

3. Why is your religion any more valid than other religions?
Catholic, Protestant (any of many sects) Islam? Judaism?
Buddha? Hindu?

4. If the Christian God is monotheistic how can it also be triune with Jesus & the Holy Spirit?

5. If God was the father of Jesus via the immaculate conception, wasnt Mary technically raped & impregnated against her will?

6. If Jesus was born to a mother who was unwed doesnt that make him a bastard?

7. If Christ died for your sins on the cross, how much of a sacrifice was it really, considering hes immortal?

8. Why do people continue to believe in religions gods when promises made for thousands of years have yet to be delivered, whereas, science has shown us the earth is NOT flat, the earth revolves around the sun and not the other way around, medicine heals but prayers dont, and although we cant literally walk on water we can circumnavigate the globe underwater in a submarine and fly to the moon?

9. If God made the earth and then created a great flood to wipe it out, how could a perfect, infallible being make something needing to be destroyed and begun anew?

10. If God gave his only son to save us from our sins, then why do we have to do anything?

That is an absolute truth claim.

How is it that you think you have the authority to make such a claim?

Do you know everything?

Are you omniscient?

No.

So your arbitrary claim is ludicrous.

It's really not that complicated. Despite your continuing attempts to shift the burden of proof.

Absent evidence, there's no reason to believe in a deity.
