Private historical research is forbidden and challenge of the official identity dogma is a criminal offense carrying lengthy prison sentence (article 179 of the Criminal Code).

FYROM IS GOVERNED BY A FASCIST REGIME, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT....

And Greece is one to judge? Just because you have a black guy in your basketball team doesn't make you the example of democracy in the world.

Skopje in the midst of the financial crisis: official statistics give a staggering 35% for 2009 unemployment rate, with youth unemployment reaching as high as 54%.

Yet the Gruevski government chooses to spend 4.5 million euros for a giant statue of the greek hero Alexander the Great.

Welcome to Skopje...

DEAR JAMES,
EVERY ONE IS IN TITLE TO JUDGE, BUT HE HAS TO PROVE HIS CASE. SO I'M SAYING THAT FYROM'S GOVERNMENT IS A FASCIST REGIME. PROOF:
Private historical research is forbidden and challenge of the official identity dogma is a criminal offense carrying lengthy prison sentence (article 179 of the Criminal Code).

I concede that ANCIENT Greeks "invented" democracy but you can't hold on that forever. Greece is far from democratic these days and if you think so then you are about as deluded as a Bulgarian who thinks he is Macedonian.

I couldn't give a shit if Macedonia or FYROM or whatever is democratic or not - the whole Balkan peninsula is a shithole rife with abuse and corruption. I just don't think Greece is the best nation to be pointing fingers.

Mr Herakles, you are making up lies like your Slav neighbours do. Article 179 of the Macedonian Criminal Code reads:

"A person, who with the intention to ridicule shall publicly make a mockery of the Macedonian people and the nationalities, shall be punished with imprisonment of three months to three years."

Link: http://unpan1.un.org/intradoc/groups/public/d...

Please do not make up lies my friend.

I do not know much about Macedonian politics and parliament but I am very much aware of Greece's fascist and far-right tendencies. Do I need to remind you of George Karatzaferis MP?

If democracy means trying to steal someone else's history, because you don' have one of your own, then they are very democrats. If it means supressing any "annoying" voice, then of course they are democrats.
But because I am Greek and proud of it and because my country is the birth-place of Democracy, allow me to say that Scopians just don't meet the criteria...

Karatzaferis is enjoying 4% in this country when Gruevski and his fascists are ruling with a overwehlming majority.
Yet Karatzaferis is by no means Fascist...ultra conservative maybe...but not fascist...get informed about his statements and you can conclude to the same thing youself

..the black guy thing is irrelevant to the democracy

We enjoy the average democracy that other south european countries do...yet we envy Scandinavians for sure....but we are not different than
Italians...Spanish or French......not anymore at least

Certain things have happened in Greece: young Albanian refugees being forced to slap each other in front of a camera, police killing a youth, police beating a Muslim for having a Koran, minorities being denied their rights,....Hardly the hallmarks of a democratic society.

Enlighten me people. What has the government of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia done that makes them so fascist?

Thrown people into so called "psychiatric clinics" for speaking the truth and not the government's version of history? And what about the Albanians in Fyrom? Are their rights respected?
