I can't argue with you that there are some very bad (so-called chrisitans) that make the true believer that loves and OBEYS God/Christ look bad . But you cant judge all to be that way,,they are few and far between.
So many assumptions. I said nothing whatever about all Christians. Christians have the "judging franchise pretty much wrapped up. My only comment here is that you, like most Christians, arrogantly assume some difference between "true believers" (inc. yourself of course), and the "so-called Christians". It's a common thing, we get that a lot here.
Oneida Citizen wrote:
If you dont want to believe thats is your choice but why try to destroy his holy word and his followers? Your obviously blessed with intelligence, so what drives you to this? Focus your energy on something that will do some good not destroy. How does a Christian hurt you? How has christ ever hurt you? There are so many other things you could do for ppl or society with your brains then try to destroy a persons faith. In alot of cases that is all they have, when you take that away they have nothing. IS this what you want? I dont think so. USE your intelligence that God gave you for good...not this.
Again with the assumptions? You know nothing about how I comport myself in life, much less how I spend my time. How can you assume so much about a person you've never met except for a few minutes in a discussion board? There's that judgmental thing we talked about.

As for your concern for the poor alleged Christians, that's not my concern, is it? Please note the thread title - you did notice that, right? It's likely what brought you here. No one forced your hand, you answered no call, you came here of your own freewill. Perhaps you wanted to learn some real truth, hmmm? No one knows but you.

In any case, for myself, I am in fact aware of the thread title, and I come here in my leisure time to share experiences with other former Christians as to how and why we came to find Christianity, the religion of our common heritage, to be a myth, a hoax, and/or a sham, depending on personal experience. In the meantime, we get to see these "true believers" display the "peace of Jesus" (and a near-total lack of knowledge about their "belief"). Take a look. It has been fascinating and informative. Stick around, if your faith can handle it, and you might learn something your Sunday School teacher never told you. One thing for sure, you will find that most former Christians know the history and doctrine of Christianity far better than most alleged "true believers".

You dont see true christian/believers breaking laws, violent crime, you see them being a good part of society. Guided by the holy word (as they believe in him) Go after what is evil in the world and you will then truly be doing good for all of us. believer and non-believer. theres enough evil out there to challenge, Are you up for that? Christians are a easy target. God bless you have a good day
Uh, that's a nice myth, about the "true Christians" not "breaking laws" and whatnot. I think you'll find that any given slice of "believers" suffer the same foibles and faults as the population in general. People is people, why not love for that alone?

Now what kind of loving God would bitch and whine that he really wants to save his failed creation, and then turns right around and BRAGS about "hiding" the truth from those he chooses at his own whim?

Do you guys ever think about your own doctrine?

It sound crazy, but there it is, in black and white.

Here's another one. It's just awful:
Romans 1:28 King James Version (KJV)

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient

Romans 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

9:16 It - The blessing. Therefore is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth - It is not the effect either of the will or the works of man, but of the grace and power of God. The will of man is here opposed to the grace of God, and man's running, to the divine operation. And this general declaration respects not only Isaac and Jacob, and the Israelites in the time of Moses, but likewise all the spiritual children of Abraham, even to the end of the world.- Wesley's Notes

Did you just edit the Bible, dusty, to force it to service a point you wanted to make? How very "true Christian" of you!

Tell me, class, why did all these disparate people happen to be in Jerusalem at this particular time cited out of context by dusty?

Question just for dusty (again): Do you suppose Jesus and the Pharisees spoke Greek to each other?

We both can agree that your citation bears absolutely no relevance to my question, right?

Your judgement day and "his wrath" are merely scare tactics that you apparently have fallen for. Any religious organization that is based on fear defies Logic when the presentation is of a god-being of love and compassion.
The irony continues.

dusty, dusty, still thinking God spoke in Elizabethan English?

Strong's 779 - askos = a wineskin, a leather bottle

No need to scrap that KJV, because it is literately pretty at times, when God's not slaughtering innocents and coming over virgins, but for actual knowledge about the Bible you might at least augment with a newer translation AND a Strong's, at least.
