I never knew that Paul had decided to become a Nazirite along the way.
The Jew taking the vow didn't "become" some entity called Nazarite. It was not a transition. It usually signified a divine request for intercession (like a healing prayer) or even the birth of a child. Some surely did assume the lifestyle for life, or pretend to (Samson the best example there), but as a rule it was merely a ritual with a beginning and end.
