"Look at me Mom. I am dying."<quoted text>
Huh? Can't be:
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy *son*!
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto *his* own home.
"Son" and "his" (translated from Greek, granted) indicate a male, and by reference John.
"Mary, take care of your mother-in-law."
There were no men there, They would have been strung up, too. That is why the were all hiding.
The word "son" is most likely inserted later to put "John" where he wasn't.
Feel free to interpret it any way you want. It doesn't matter anyway.
