Ever think about just becoming a Buddhist? No hell, no devils, no demons, no imposed guilt trips...just a search for enlightenment.
Juicylu does not seem to really be searching for enlightenment...just the right Christian church.

There is nothing wrong with that of course, unless you say you are searching for enlightenment but only asking questions about which church you should attend.

I still think Jesus had some very fine teachings that are worth upholding in this day and time. But I also think that the Buddha had the same. So did other mere mortals.

<quoted text>
This is the choice for you today, salvation in Christ or damnation without Him.
That is what Jesus taught.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.(John 3:16-18)
Afterward he appeared unto the eleven and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.(Mark 16:14-16)
Jesus is the only way !!!!! its by faith not works
Nope. A god who hates its creations so much that he'll torture them because they don't believe as another of his creations believe is not an acceptable choice.

Cool! But Lewis has much more Christian themes in his books IMO. I grew up on Narnia.
Yeah I love Narnia too and you're right, Lewis was a lot more obvious than Tolkien with his Christian influence as Tolkien had other Mythic influences combined and one really needs to know the Bible to see it clearly in Tolkien's work and vice versa. I'm saying that because I read Tolkien before I read the Bible properly so then it was pretty obvious to me which parts came from the Bible.

ps. Westies are worse than Bogans, I grew up in Nth Rocks ;)

Happy New Year!

We didn't do no steekin' stained glass in no Southern Baptist churches, back when I was a SouBap!

That there's papist foolishness, don't you know?

Well, thank you for finally explaining to us that you do not believe in Jesus or God. It's an enlightening fact and I'm sure all Topix Christians are happy that you are not one of theirs.

Hell, it seems to me, must be a greater evil by far than anything ever perpetrated by Satan. In fact, whatever comes next seems like nothing but a practical joke by comparison.

Meaning that, the greatest perpetrator of evil in the universe must be --

God.

The Pantera myth is just as unsubstantiated as the Christian virgin birth. It is just more believable (to modern people) than a demi-god.
More likely he had rather average parents and family.
I honestly don't know anything about the Pantera myth. Could you supply me a link?

I've learned a lot here the last few days. That's the reason I love for X, Chess Jurist, HipG and others to join us now and again. They're not here nearly often enough.

When they are in a converstation, I just sort of sit in the background in awe.

This warning from the Jewish apostle Paul is becoming clearer and clearer as the days grow darker and darker:
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (1 Timothy 4:1)
People have been walking away from Christianity from the very beginning.

What else would you write if you were trying to start a new religion, teaching Jesus would return in your lifetime, and wanted to put fear into the people who walked away and those who stayed out of fear?

Silly boy. It's just a machination of the early inventions of your fear-filled religion.

I still don't understand why fear is so very necessary for some people.

Your thinking is seriously flawed. It's a shame ignorance and stuupidity aren't painful. You'd be in agony right now.

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Cancer

Today's Full Moon will have a powerful impact on your health during the next few months. Maybe this is the spur you need to inspire you to take better care of yourself, such as improving your diet, getting more exercise or finally consulting the doctor about something that's worrying you. It will also be the end of a chapter connected with your work, but don't fret because this ending will lead on to a new beginning.
