I don't think they were originally numbered and there were more than ten, they were changed along the way but I don't know when, I looked into it a bit when it was pointed out to me but haven't come across all of the history regarding it yet. My ESV Bible has them numbered as 10, my NIV has many more and so does my KJV, all of them are numbered differently though. I might go have a look again, thanks.
Peace :)
Get another version of the Bible and read the whole story of Moses from the first time he went up on the mountain. It's quite easy to find out the story of the commandments if you only read the Bible. You don't have to 'research it', unless you are claiming that reading the Bible is research.

I find that most Christians have never actually read their Bible, and if they have it has been in bits and pieces as handed to them on Sunday. I would suggest putting aside all the things you've been told by a preacher or books by apologetic Christian authors and just read it. Read exactly what it says. You'll understand a great deal more that way and you won't have to keep saying you don't know exactly what it says. We already had that figured out by your posts.

Now, go ahead and say this is a mean post, that I'm attacking you or whatever because I have given you good advice.

Like I said, go read your Bible. If you want to discuss it and answer questions about it, having read it is invaluable.

Most of the time fundies just say they don't have time to look something up or read the Bible. I find that rather odd as they have time to be on Topix an awful lot.

also explains why when so many give up an addiction......drug, alcohol, sex, gambling, food........they turn to religion.
Every single fundie who has said they gave up drugs/alcohol/porn/etc has just transferred their addiction to religion. The addictive behavior has not been addressed nor indeed worked on. They went to religion for the cure, and now the cure of religion has them held fast in its grip.

It is not that I don't think they have done something marvelous for themselves and their community by giving up alcohol/drugs/porn/etc. They have and I congratulate them. But now they need to work on the real problem...themselves and their addictive behavior. You can never get over having an addictive behavior if you simply swap one addiction for another.

Churches taught you what you know about Jesus, so you're really not 'searching' for anything except a church that agrees with what another church told you and there seem not to be any of those in your area.

Don't worry, if you ever come to the point where you are actually searching, it will be about everything, not just churches.

What I find most interesting is that the people who actually walked with Jesus are made out to be idiots while the self proclaimed "apostle" who never met Jesus, knew nothing about Jesus, disagreed with all those who did know Jesus, contradtics Jesus, etc. is heralded as the only man who knows what Jesus meant.

That is just stupid.

That's an interesting point. And you are correcrt in a way. But I believe the actual target of Mark's author was the original disciples themselves, and more specifically, the Twelve, and only indirectly their followers. Mark seems to want to discredit the Twelve themselves.
By the time John was written, the target was the Jews in general -- and the Jewish communities that had sprung from the Jerusalem church -- the followers of the Twelve you mentioned.
Mark’s treatment of the Twelve has caused scholars to wonder what purpose his harshness served. As William Telford describes it, in Mark, the Twelve appear “frail, confused, afraid, and human”.* They show numerous failings, such as misunderstanding Jesus’ teachings, deserting him, falling asleep on guard duty, and seeking undeserved power and status. Additionally, Peter denies knowing Jesus three times, and Judas ultimately betrays him. Bart Ehrman describes Mark’s portrayal of the disciples in the following terms:
<quoted text>
Mark’s treatment of the Twelve is so harsh in fact that the other synoptic writers, according to Ehrman**,“felt it necessary to alter, omit, or otherwise tone down Mark’s treatment” of them.
I think the reason for this, generally, was that at the time of Mark's writing the tension between the Jerusalem church and Pauline Christianity -- perhaps best displayed in Paul's account of his confrontation with Peter at Antioch -- was, as you noted, a very significant issue.
But by the time of John's writing, the dispersed Jerusalem church and the more Hellenistic churches were then in competition for apostolic authority. Churches founded by Paul were seeking to reinvent Peter and crew in their image and claim their authority -- something Mark's author couldn't do with the Jerusalem church being only so recently dispersed and probably some original followers still alive.

Instead of worrying about explaining things to WN maybe you should be more worried about why JuicyLu finds asking questions of Christians confusing. Why is it more important clownie for you to "help" someone who doesn't want your help than it is for you to "help" one of your brothers/sisters in Christ?
Another question is why Juicylu is asking non-Christians what they think of the Church of God or any other church, about which church to go to, or anything else regarding what she should do?

I personally think she/he is just playing games.

GET SAVED
Why would God choose the adherents to any man made religion over another man made religion? Which is the one sect of the 39,000 from which God chooses names for his list? It's all so very silly sounding to me for Christians to think that their small little sect of Christianity is the only pool from which God has to choose, while at the same time counting all Christians together when trying to make a point about how Christianity is taking over the earth. But then, when you tell them what a Catholic or a JW has to say, you say they are not 'real' Christians.

You guys are a hoot to watch in action.
